but allowing them to establish the idea that "being white" is something you have to be reminded that it is OK to be gives them a beachhead to start expanding on their stupid-ass "Whites are oppressed" meme.
The meme can't exist if nobody makes racist remarks against white people. They literally need people to complain loudly to make that happen. What happened to the concept of "Don't feed the trolls"?
This is honestly an ingenious manipulation campaign by /pol/. In it's brief life cycle I've already seen it working in roping people into white nationalism through the concept of white genocide. Here's what usually happens when the phrase "It's okay to be white" is brought up by someone: -Someone, usually either the blissfully ignorant victim or another participant in the campaign, responds with some sort of variation of "Of course it is, who doesn't think that?" Or "I cant believe people actually think this is racist to say!" -The manipulator explains why this line of thinking is 'problematic' to certain crowds and how the white identity is under attack by people who think that being white 'is not okay' -The manipulator goes into detail on how white people are being displaced culturally in Europe, Canada, the US, etc. -People either see this exchange and buy into the idea that white people are under attack by an oppressive force of non-whiteness or are active participants in the exchange and have their perceptions swayed by the silver tongues of the manipulators What makes this so effective is that it's probably the least offensive statement possible but has extreme implications below the surface that play into manipulating people's perceptions without them realizing it. It can not only be perpetuated extremely effectively by malicious white nationalists, but can be spread like a malignant disease among those ignorant to the true intentions of this campaign. This is modern White Nationalist strategy boiled down to it's purest and most potent components. Turn dangerously misleading and dishonest ideas into innocuous facades designed to make White Nationalism palatable to the layman and maintain plausible deniability in the process. And it's going to work.
The view that it's ok to be white? Because the moment someone says "It's better to be white" or "It's not ok to not be white" is when shit will hit the fan. No amount of spamming "It's ok to be white" is going to make people find the other two OK. What it will do though is give people the opportunity to laugh at racist idiots complaining about and defacing those signs. That seems to be exactly what's going on here despite /pol/'s involvement.
You seem to not get the intentions behind this phrase. It's a word against "fake media" and the common assumption that globalization happens, because the "white race need to whitewash themselves from their past sins". It's attacking the imigration policy itself, one of the findamentals of the US. And so you know, all big radical movements started as a possible laughing stock. The Spartan league? DAP? They later became a serious threat to be dealt with.
No disagreement here. That says nothing about the origins of these posters though. What you're doing is the same as conflating gamergate with 'anti-women hate mob'.
Yo don't just accuse me of shit I didn't say. You said /pol/ was only about jokes and trolling Judas makes a post referencing an incident where members of /pol/ demonstrated that they were not trolling You called it a strawman, which it is not.

It'd make a good high school essay though.
I think you're reading way too far into what's a bunch of teenagers on an image board trolling people. It'd make a good high school essay though.
Do the ones that held the torches in Charlottesville look like a teenagers to you? You think from where some of them are? With the evolution of information you can start any political activity through the internet. Just look at their board and you'll get the idea that there are a lot of adults there ready to prove you your assumption wrong.
Alternatively, it's a bunch of internet trolls laughing at the only people dumber than them. This has been 4chan's go-to since it's inception.
It's funny seeing how blatantly two-pronged this is. One half of it has already been explained a lot in this thread - a pretty common strategy of repackaging white nationalism into subversive and easily digestible messages, and wiggling around with the leeway that gets you. The other half is having it generate posts like this, utilising a pretty common view on the internet - the idea that caring about things is shameful and makes you dumb. Keep cementing the idea that they're just trolls, it's just a joke, they're just trying to piss people off etc. and you get to cultivate the idea that something as basic as caring about things is something to be seen as negative. I mean, anyone can see that at this point it's a bunch of white supremacists and their ilk with slightly worse intentions than just joking around, but if you try to push the idea that people just shouldn't care about any perceived negative intentions then you get that double whammy. Remember kids, it's the year 2003 and the internet is not serious business.
and the Hegelian dialectic cycle continues.
I find it kind of funny how something as simple as this poster can make all these different groups react as harshly as something that would be outwardly racist. And then there are some who have no idea whether to even be hysterical about it or not. When we are kids, at least some of us, we are taught to pick our battles. This is one battle that makes people look dumb as fuck for picking.

It's putting up a loaded question. The places should invite a speaker to dispel the message. That's what could make it flip back the other way.
People need to realise the internet isn't a fucking joke anymore. I don't get how people can look at recent events, especially the influence Russia had in destabilizing the most powerful country in the world in their own elections, and think the internet is all memes and jokes. It really is serious business now.

This year has only convinced me how easy it is for white nationalist ideas to worm their way in to the public consciousness, this rhetoric has so many people convinced they're legitimate talking points. I'm beginning to get a bit scared these guys might win in America.
jokes on you fucko im drinking away my liver and smoking away my lungs, ill be long gone before i get skin cancer
Can... Saw this pop up on my Twitter feed, I guess this might get picked up a bit more?

Pol already won by the idea being spread through outrage. They're still an extreme minority regardless of what people may think.

It's picked up insanely fast across north america. Both universities had it here. The professor was talking about it today in class. She seemed to realize not to feed the trolls. I mean another thing is to simply shut down /pol/ and stop enabling these folks, as the idea of ""containment"" is laughably stupid, but a person can dream.
I mean another thing is to simply shut down /pol/ and stop enabling these folks, as the idea of ""containment"" is laughably stupid, but a person can dream.
Actually its best to have things in public forums. Otherwise they become private, and you don't get to peer in.
I mean another thing is to simply shut down /pol/ and stop enabling these folks, as the idea of ""containment"" is laughably stupid, but a person can dream.
Hiro makes too many ad money from /pol/ to shut it down. Only way it would ever get shut down is if it negatively impacted all of 4chan's profits.
Actually its best to have things in public forums. Otherwise they become private, and you don't get to peer in.
Actually you do, unicorn riot released shittons of private secret discord logs from Charlottesville nazis and also today from anticom nazis that show exactly how they think and operate.

They don't need to be acknowledged by an outside party to gain attention. And at that point, removing them only serves to give off the idea that you're refuting the idea of the message by throwing it away.
Actually its best to have things in public forums. Otherwise they become private, and you don't get to peer in.
And peering in has stopped it how? It's only allowed them to get more and more exposure with no reprussions.
I disagree. EDIT: Goddamn Garry why is my flag not showing up, thanks for ruining my joke.
Mine's a portuguese flag too so you cannot one-up that
Actually its best to have things in public forums. Otherwise they become private, and you don't get to peer in.
Visibility and accessibility only serves to benefit these groups.
Mine's a portuguese flag too so you cannot one-up that
Naw khazakstan flag is better [editline]2nd November 2017[/editline] Khazakstan is the great est country in the world All of the other countries are run by little girls [editline]2nd November 2017[/editline] Khazakstan number one exporter of potassium
Just hang up the same poster but with other races / identities. These sorts of things are designed to create rifts- by feeding into that you're literally doing exactly what they want.
All the other counties have inferior potassium
