It happened at the same airport?! What the fuck is going on over there?
It's one of the busiest airports in the world so it shouldn't be all that surprising that a lot of things happen
Even if bunnies kill over all the time from the stress of being handled for flight, it is still the airline's fault; they would know by now to either ban rabbits from flight or to handle them with more care. Never forget the news piece about a lady's healthy dog that was left in boiling heat on a runway in a box until it was shitting blood.
The hare died at O’Hare.
(actually died mid-flight from Heathrow)
Never forget the news piece about a lady's healthy dog that was left in boiling heat on a runway in a box until it was shitting blood.
Oh boy, that was United as well. This doesn't look good for them.
I'll never understand how people can feel comfortable putting their pets into planes as cargo. I'd rather deal with the heartache of giving my dog away (to someone good of course) than send her flying over the ocean in a box. Still, I'm guessing that for 99% of cases it's safe and nothing wrong happens.
Oh boy. There goes United killing again.

You have any other sources? Dailymail is.. well, the dailymail
what the fuck it's like a fucking DOG
It's a Dire Rabbit
Had that rabbit flown before?
there's some kind of trend here where media outlets will begin to overreport on airline companies after one major incident, i.e. malaysian airlines
there's some kind of trend here where media outlets will begin to overreport on airline companies after one major incident, i.e. malaysian airlines
Yeah the trend is called money. It's what brings the viewers in.
id probably shit myself if i saw a rabbit that big tbh
[t]http://cinemassacre.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/26-Lepus.jpg[/t]
How is the death of the world's largest growing bunny not news?
That and everyone's going to think that United is cursed now.
I'm sorry but why would you EVER check your animal? Regardless of airline it's extremely dangerous and thousands if not more animals die every year in the cargo container. Ground crews often don't give a shit about the animal and basic needs are ignored. Just take the damn rabbit in the passenger cabin with you. I see people flying with much larger dogs than this dozens of times every day at the airport.
You have any other sources? Dailymail is.. well, the dailymail
Here is a NBC report with the video from the woman inside:
I'd rather ship my dog via FedEx or UPS than trust a fucking airline.
Why are airline baggage handlers so shit at their job? Also hope that lady with the dog sued the shit out of them after they tried to pull that non-disclosure agreement bullshit. That was shady as fuck.
I'd rather ship my dog via FedEx or UPS than trust a fucking airline.
So you'd rather ship your pet via airplane instead of shipping it via airplane?
Why are airline baggage handlers so shit at their job?
It helps if you read the OP for once and then you'd know that baggage handlers didnt do a thing here. Flying with an animal is inherently dangerous. They get a single heater in the hold and are subject to being asphyxiated from the fire supression system.
He may have appeared healthy but often rabbits can have underlying health issues that go unnoticed until it's too late (one of the reasons why they have such a high fatality rate under anaesthetic), plus they can be easily stressed and die from that. The continental is fundamentally flawed as rabbits were never supposed to be that big, and they've got to that stage from a certain degree of inbreeding, leaving them not the healthiest of rabbits. I hesitate to blame the airline here as surely the flight itself, being so far from the rabbit's natural habitat, could be stressful enough to kill any rabbit. BBC quotes statistics giving a low rate of death among flying animals, however they don't break it down to individual species, I'd reckon that rabbits had a higher death rate than say dogs and cats, just because of their fragile nature.
Also reptiles probably really, really lower the overall statistic some more. The herp trade has people buying and selling snakes and lizards from all over the world and they very rarely die in transit. If a company has been getting away with horrible practices in the past then it's a good thing that they're not anymore. Let what is happening to UA be a lesson for other airlines that this shit isn't acceptable.
No as in, I'd rather trust a company who's job it is to ship shit, often shit that is sensitive to being handled poorly, than a company who's entire job it is to just move people and their non-sensitive luggage which they universally treat like absolute shit.
I don't think you know how your package is handled if you hold this view.
has anyone looked into this rabbit's criminal history?
I think some kind of wizard (possibly witch) placed a very powerful curse on United Airlines. Now horrible things will not stop happening on their planes. If this turns out to be the case, everybody note that I theorized it first. It's really the most plausible explanation.
It helps if you read the OP for once and then you'd know that baggage handlers didnt do a thing here. Flying with an animal is inherently dangerous. They get a single heater in the hold and are subject to being asphyxiated from the fire supression system.
I wasn't talking about the rabbit. Just in general I've only heard bad things about baggage carriers in airports destroying shit, and that one incident with the dog only reinforces that view. Also the article doesn't mention anything about how the rabbit died. For all we know it could have been crushed or smothered. Although it's possible the rabbit could have just died from stress through no fault of baggage carriers, because rabbits seem to have a built in self destruct feature.
It happened at the same airport?! What the fuck is going on over there?
I've been long convinced that O Hare refuses to hire anybody who isn't an asshole.
id probably shit myself if i saw a rabbit that big tbh
I don't know about you guys, but I'd probably cuddle that rabbit to death if I ever saw it Unfortunately United Airlines got to it first...
I don't think you know how your package is handled if you hold this view.
here we go again...
UNITED AIRLINES MUST SHUTDOWN, before anymore loss of life. just scrap it man, its been good let it die.
It will never happen any time soon because United has money, several investors and will probably get bailed out if it comes close.
