You can't really interpolate video, which is basically what the facial animations are. The VR stuff sounds super interesting, the facial animations are going to be really interesting to see in VR. I wonder why it's only for the Vive, seems like weird exclusivity to make.
well games made for the vive are normally playable on other headsets through SteamVR, so it'll be fine anyway
Love the new (presumed) box art/branding/artwork they came up with The rebranding in general makes me wonder if they're cooking up another game alongside this. That would be incredible.
I feel like if Rockstar tried their hand at it themselves, they could make a worthy successor. LA Noire really could have benefitted from being less rigid and more like a GTA/RDR game. I mean, it would be hard to do with its case structure, but not impossible if they shook it up a little, added some more action-y missions and fixed up the combat.
I thought LA Noire was refreshing in that despite what little combat there was, the combat that it did have was usually pretty great and felt legit. Not to mention, I was so into the story and characters that I didn't even care about the lack of combat to begin with. If they were to make a sequel, they would absolutely have to make a freeroam mode however, where you can play as a criminal or something, and have an online portion with various cops & robbers gamemodes. It'd contrast nicely with how by-the-books/boy scout-y Cole was.

Second, did we play the same game? Roy is the guy[sp]that ratted on Cole to cover up his own department, has no qualms about blackmailing other people, was part of the big bad conspiracy, one of the most corrupt people on the force, openly threatened Cole to stop investigating the SRF and gave the phoniest, most insincere eulogy he could've possibly given.[/sp]'Upholding the law' is not a phrase that I associate with Roy Earle of all characters.

[sp]In the ending, Roy seems genuinely sad that Cole died, most likely because even though Cole repeatedly put a stop to his corruption, he still respected just how good a cop he was[/sp]. I could see the game taking place after the ending of the first L.A. Noire, with Roy now reformed, or at least moderately reformed, but still an asshole.
Oh damn! I just started playing L.A. Noire and I totally wouldn't mind a proper remaster. This is honestly the best Rockstar game I've played in a long time (and yes I know they didn't make it. shame it took an external dev to make me truly love them)
By uphold the law, I mean he still put criminals away alongside Cole, he was just a corrupt bag of shit while doing it. And honestly, I'd like to know where you get[sp]Roy being genuinely sad from. He sabotaged Cole's career by outing him (ironically putting his bosses in even more trouble), threatened Cole to make him get off his boss's back and only gave a eulogy so as to make him seem decent. Roy never gave a shit about Cole beyond exploiting him for his own gain and there's no way in hell that eulogy wasn't something to make him look good.[/sp]
I'm just wondering[sp]who'll be the protagonist, seeing as Cole's dead. Hope it's not Jack, unless he gets better writing.[/sp]
[sp]What was wrong with Jack's writing?[/sp]
I'm just wondering[sp]who'll be the protagonist, seeing as Cole's dead. Hope it's not Jack, unless he gets better writing.[/sp]
It's possible that [sp]Cole isn't dead. He could have survived the flood and left the city in secret to start a new life somewhere else since his reputation was ruined in L.A. That's why I speculate we could see him again in another game, with a different name, especially if it's set in Chicago or New York.[/sp]
[sp]What was wrong with Jack's writing?[/sp]
[sp]Jack knew there was at least one person (Courtney) who was seriously considering robbing the SS Coolridge and that more than a few others were probably considering it but kept his mouth shut. Even when people were OD'ing and squadmates were turning up dead at the hands of the mob, he refused to tell Cole for basically no reason. Protecting his squadmates? Yeah, that'll be very prideful when they're all dead or the mob's bitch. Contempt towards Cole? Congrats, childish bullshit apparently weighs heavier on him than the lives of people he fought with.[/sp] [editline]7th September 2017[/editline]
It's possible that [sp]Cole isn't dead. But I thought VR was dead? I mean, those articles said so...

Double dealing with the mob and the police brass, making collections, beating up informants, that kind of thing.
You can't really interpolate video
Say what? There are plenty of freeware tools that allow you to interpolate video right now from your home computer. Give SVP a try. Interpolating facial capture (essentially physics mapping) should be even easier since it's already dealing with data represented in-engine.

I didn't see a reason for Jack to go to a man he only knows for making terrible decisions that cost people's lives[/sp]

That kind of stuff might work for when you're watching a video but I imagine if you applied it to their facial animations it'd just look like that person's face is trying to tear itself apart.
Wow. I've wanted a sequel to LA Noire for years, I really hope this means there's interest in it. I think it was an amazing idea that was flawed, but so much more interesting than a lot of what comes out.

This is AFTER people start dying and it's known that it's army morphine, AFTER squadmates turn up dead and AFTER one of his squadmates was under fire in broad daylight by the mob and he keeps shut for (in my eyes at least) no rational, clearly defined reason. Yes, Cole made mistakes. Yes, Jack probably doesn't like him that much, to put it charitably. But to be directly asked about the Coolridge heist and insisting he knows nothing about it even when people are dying because of it requires him to act like a fucking idiot because the plot demands it.[/sp] [editline]7th September 2017[/editline]
Wow.
how the fuck did they get the game to run on the switch?
It ran on 360/PS3. Wii U was stronger than PS3 and 360. Switch is stronger than Wii U.
But I thought VR was dead? I mean, those articles said so...
It never said anywhere that it was dead. True potential still hasn't been unleashed. There was some news about HTC to sell their VR stuff while it's still valuable to combat their losses in other fields.

I can't really argue on the specifics until I replay it. Still, keep in mind that the Cole and Kelso dynamic isn't just some friendly rivalry. Cole's decisions killed women, children, and his own men. In Jack's eyes, he's not just some dickhead from work, but a dangerous, misguided, and utterly unqualified monster[/sp]
i honestly think that a LA Noire game with the same liberty as a GTA (more like a Red Dead game to be honest) would seriously overtake the place that Mafia barely holds. Now, if they are both on 2ks wings then maybe thats why it hasnt happened yet, but if the franchise doesnt do well, LA Noire could easily win that. Same deal with the first red dead game, it wasnt aaaas big until the second game.
-late-
well that was unexpected. Especially the VR bit
I could see a game for the switch with the GTA backend/world map cut out so that they could make the case areas look really good and optimized and avoid loading times, focus more on the actual case stuff and make it a really solid detective/puzzle game. Dunno how much everyone likes the pseudo-gta driving and chase stuff though.
Love the new (presumed) box art/branding/artwork they came up with The rebranding in general makes me wonder if they're cooking up another game alongside this.
L.A. Noire for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One delivers the complete original game and all additional downloadable content with a range of technical enhancements for greater visual fidelity and authenticity, including enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles, high resolution textures and more. Plays natively in 1080p for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, and stunning 4K for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, these versions capture the grit and grime of the City of Angels like never before.
I wonder if they plan on bringing these changes to the PC version. Probably not!
http://gearnuke.com/la-noire-boxart-ps4-xbox-one-switch-price/ game costs 10 bucks more on switch. why? because nintendo users never got the game before? the motion/touch controls? ...because it's on a cartridge?
