I feel it necessary to mention there is now an image floating around of the shooter after he killed himself. Just a heads up.
Can anyone give me a rundown on the laws surrounding modding semi-autos with bumpstocks? I honestly can't see a difference between a fully automatic rifle and a semi-auto with a bumpstock.
Legal because the stock is not a mechanical device and does not change how the gun functions. Instead it relies on a dynamic of muscle tension and recoil to achieve automatic fire. The way it works is essentially you pull the gun forward until the trigger is depressed on your finger which fires the gun, the recoil forces the gun back enough that the trigger releases, but your extended arm pushes it forward until the trigger depresses, and so on allowing you to achieve rapid fire on a semi-automatic weapon.
I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being all the motive was. The guy's retired, started thinking about how nobody will remember him in time, and decides to do something really fucked up as a quick way to be remembered forever. Absolute sicko, makes me wish they just wouldn't reveal the identity of the people that do these mass shootings.
One reason they do is so people who know him know who's the perpetrator, and they can come forward to the police and provide additional information.
I didn't know they made mags that thicc
You know i was thinking that maybe the hotels should install wired window breaker security on all the windows. That at least tells the hotel stay that there is something wrong and they can bring armed security.
One reason they do is so people who know him know who's the perpetrator, and they can come forward to the police and provide additional information.
Oh yea I know there's reasons they have to, it just still sucks possibly giving the shooter what he wants, but yea what can you do
Oh yea I know there's reasons they have to, it just still sucks possibly giving the shooter what he wants, but yea what can you do
Well I mean this is an unusual situation, in most mass shootings, its quick to identify the motives, and until now, nobody knows as of yet in this case, so I guess it warrants the police releasing information on the suspect earlier than expected. I'm sure the police was aware, at least in the moment, the sheriff handled it really well during the press briefing.
Some of the guns he had were illegal right? Or had illegal modification?
Maybe his motive was he was old as fuck, a multimillionaire, and being the biggest mass shooter was on his bucket list.
Some of the guns he had were illegal right? Or had illegal modification?
No, all we're legally purchased/owned and modified.
I didn't know they made mags that thicc
They hold either 60 or 100 rounds of .223 ammunition in them. http://www.surefire.com/mag5-60.html http://www.surefire.com/mag5-100.html
As pointed out previously, theres thousands of ways to make a semi-auto into a faux-auto which is very likely what this guy was running, as for mags he was certainly running either a 100 rounder triple stack or a drum. I kinda suspect theres gonna be a lot of feel good bans coming in soon on devices like cranks, bump stocks, twin fire triggers, drop ins and other mechanical/electrical devices that can raise the rof of a semi auto that'll just ignore the cause of the problem and see it as a solution.
What is the cause of the problem here anyhow?
What is the cause of the problem here anyhow?
Mental Health? The most widely ignored issue in this country. [editline]3rd October 2017[/editline] He may not have a history of mental issues, but sane people don't do this.
Plenty of people (I think males especially?) hide mental strife and end up committing suicide without anyone knowing they were suffering. I think it's clear that this guy fits that bill. But we have a separate thread for this argument, please go there: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1580860
Read a line in one of the whatsapp groups with it saying he was shooting for 9 minutes? Is that true? I'm just struggling to wrap my head around the concept, it seems feasible with response times and people not wanting to go near his room but christ. Ignore me top of this page.
Odds are in all the panic, no one knew where the shots were coming from. Large area for the sounds to echo from, and a massive crowd freaking out would spread he-said-she-said with no firm identity as to where the sounds are coming from. Plus all the shouting and screaming likely hindered that. He also had plenty of spare ammunition and excess weaponry that looks to be pre-loaded. He likely was shooting down at the crowds as much as he could, either swapping weapons or having ammunition right on-hand, and he had his camera setup ready to deal with or kill himself once the police figured out where he was.
LVMPD released some bodycam footage from officers responding to the shooting. Nothing graphic, really shows the confusion.

Whatever happened to that one group in the "CLEAR VIEW OF LAS VEGAS SHOOTING (BULLETS HITTING THE GROUND & PEOPLE)" video standing around with one guy vaping? No joke you see a bunch of smoke right when the bullets start up again. No images because I believe they were standing around an injured person.

Just heart breaking to think these people were just attending a concert and having a good time, such a sad thing to know people are capable of doing these things and worse
Time to see what she knows. Probably fuck all except that she was given a lot of money.
Wait, I thought his girlfriend was the suspicious woman who yelled at the concert that they were all gonna die? Who was that then? Or was that debunked?
IIRC she was always in the Philippines. https://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/las-vegas-shooting/las-vegas-shooter-wired-100-000-philippines-last-week-n807141
So who was that woman then?
So who was that woman then?
somebody who needs to be questioned by the police.
Considering Vegas and its typical drunk tourist population, it could be a very scary coincidence. Or maybe it really was someone who knew something. But it wasn't the woman who is said to be his roommate/partner. She was out of the country as was confirmed by the feds. The $100,000 that the shooter sent to the Philippines may have very well been some kind of parting gift to her, maybe. Doesn't mean she was involved though. And I'm kind of hoping she wasn't. Feel like if she was, she probably wouldn't have come back.

On another note, my parents came home safely today. They showed me a lot of pictures from all of the strip hotels whose giant electronic signs were completely devoid of the usual advertisements and were instead all showing messages on the vein of "Prayers with all of Las Vegas's victims" or something to that effect. It was a pretty neat show of solidarity from tons of usually competing hotels/casinos. It'll be a while before the area recovers, I think.
You can see a bullet go through the fence at 5 seconds in.
That's not a round. There's people on the other side of the fence and it bows to the right of the frame. You can see the hotel on the right as the clip goes on, it would've bowed towards the left if it was one of his shots.
somebody who needs to be questioned by the police.
remember there is always tons of people in big cities screaming or with signs there will be end of world it's Las Vegas so i would not be shocked it was totally en random ..
