Mass Shooting in Las Vegas - 58 Dead at Least 515 Injured, Suspect Killed
I could see it being a warning. Assuming she had just found out from her roommate about this, she could have ran to the concert to try to get it shut down, not thinking clearly enough out of shock, to just call the cops.
She seems to have charged in to the venue, pushed her way to the very front(where she could potentially reach someone with a microphone, or an event organiser), argued with another woman(perhaps because that woman told her to quite causing a ruckus which frustrated her since she was trying to help?), and then as a last resort tried to warn everyone by telling them they were going to die tonight.
This sequence of events makes me think that she made a failed attempt to warn everyone, before forcibly taken out of the concert. In the 45 minutes til the shooting, she could done one of two things:
1.She could have continued to try to reach the right people to no avail
2.She could have prepared with the actual shooter for the shooting
I'd like to think she tried to help, but I suppose the police will find out for themselves.
I understand that in times of stress people don't think rationally or logical, but if she wanted to protect people why didn't she contact the police, instead of going down to the concert and telling people they where going to die.
We of course don't know yet why she did this
But from what has been said so far I'm firmly in the camp of: she was trying to incite panic and fear.
I also didn't see that people are getting banned for posting speculative posts, I'll remove this post if need be
Seriously. How is it shoehorning or bogus?
The PD are looking for a woman who was very likely working with the shooter. The fact that this person said she saw a woman getting into a verbal conflict with another woman and then shouting "You're all gonna die tonight" right before a mass shooting happen, BEFORE the police report came out saying they where looking for a woman is pretty suspicious.
Its well within reason to consider it to be more than just random chance.
Maybe this can wait until things die down?
I don't see why we can't discuss it.
Short of people saying communist fighters. Everything has been well within reason.

Give it a rest man, jeez.
My condolences to everyone involved, not only the injured/dead but also the others who had to fear for their lives as well as the ones who had to fear for their beloved ones.
person on the phone being interviewed on the local fox channel, "I got blood on my hands, I don't know where it came from"
christ.
Police has officially release picture of the person of interest and the likely vehicle

I'm honestly getting fucking angry at these posts. Through the entire thread we've had him and 2 others casually threadshitting with this kind of bullshit. What the fuck drives your frame of mind?
I honestly hate seeing how quickly people jump to using this kind of tragedy as a political tool to push their agenda as the families have yet to find out if their relatives will survive the night.
Not talking about the thread in particular, but that shit is all over twitter. Respect for the victims and the families is completely lost today because people are so thirsty to get something that confirms their worldview out of the tragedy of innocent lives lost. It's the same shit every single time. There's a time to talk about how to prevent it from happening again, but it's not when the bodies are still fresh and we have no clue what actually happened and who has passed or will live the rest of their lives crippled.

That's just it though, no matter how many precautions you take to prevent something like this from happening, someone invariably slips through said precautions. And everybody with a social media account and an overactive imagination/half baked knowledge can play armchair expert now and say "this is how it could've been stopped", because 20/20 hindsight for the sake of attention is all they can offer.
Also people say and do many things on social media purely for the sake of attention seeking these days in any case. For them, it's less about the fact that a terrible tragedy has occurred, than it is trying to milk it for their own reasons. It's narcissism, plain and simple.

Sadly some people see things like this and only see the means to further their cause.
I hope and pray they remain the vocal minority, we should try and look for the good that comes from these events: the solidarity, blood drives and the commitment to a safer world.
There's no confirmation yet that Marilou Danley is the same person that yelled "Y'all gonna die tonight". We only know that she's supposed to be the suspect's "companion", and that she's some sort of professional gambler or hostess.
I really hope they find her quick. She shouldn't of been able to go too far
It's really easy to make an open bolt beltfed machine gun. You can order a PKM parts kit, and just weld it together.
They also make belt fed ar-15 kits, which if you throw a drop in auto sear into the lower becomes basically an M249
That said, it needs to be clearly stated, this is a well planned and orchestrated attack.
Well it becomes a shrike ares.
mass shooting ain't the right word for this. this is full on terrorism.

The terms aren't mutually exclusive, though I don't think there's confirmation regarding the latter yet.

regardless of any connections to known terrorist groups, what is it if not to instill fear? you don't have to be part of isis to be a terrorist, lone wolf terrorists exist ie in the case of the okc bombing
regardless of any terrorist connections, what is it if not to instill fear?
I'm speaking generally here, so please no speculation ban:
I think the other two motivations of recent mass shootings I've seen are revenge (mostly in school shootings and similar ones, though) and to kill a certain group of people (but then there's usually a much more specific target location or event).

Terrorism implies a political motive though.
Apparently the death toll has been upped to over 50.

What the fuck

Holy fuck, that is horrific
and to think this was one lone gunman.
That was a lone shooter who happened to have read a combat tactics manual. He kept shifting positions, making it seem like there was more than one shooter.
He was actually a former member of the US Army, which is why he was so successful.
Terrorism implies a political motive though.
terrorism doesn't imply any motive other than a desire to instill fear. it can be for political reasons, religious reasons, or just because you're a huge piece of shit. terrorism and political motives often go hand in hand, but they're far from mutually inclusive.
Why the fuck did they release the name. Holy shit. Every psychologist and expert on why people are doing this will tell you not to release any identification info of the shooter because it inspires others and here we are.

I think it's just too early and there's not enough confirmed facts about the motives of the killers to tell if it's terrorism or not yet. Nobody has claimed the attack, and sometimes non terrorist attacks are claimed by groups that had nothing to do with it. You can't trust their word, only the reports of the police investigating the attack. Once the police confirms it we'll know.

With the amount of mass misinformation that was being put out, I'm not surprised they released it.
