Saying he's a victim does not absolve him of the blame. But it's a good opportunity to look at the underlying causes and prevent this situation in the future.

Someone else raised a good point earlier. Why does this dude and others like him, have to be mentally ill? When do we draw the line for people to be responsible for their actions and know what they did was wrong? It's like a scapegoat, "Oh this guy killed someone, he must have mental issues."

According to media reports and in his own admission he had great adversity in his life, this doesn't quantify mental illness necessarily. There wouldn't be anyone in prison for murder if every murder was a product of mental illness. I admit that I can't say with certainty that he isn't mentally ill the same as you can't say with certanty he is. I'm glad he is dead though.

From that video of him talking it's pretty obvious this guy was a psychopath. Yes, he was mentally ill, but in a much more sinister way than someone who had a shitty life and then snapped. He was fully in control of his actions and knew exactly what he was doing, and probably committed suicide because he knew he would get caught.
