What music needs to be relicensed? All of it?
They could replace all of the music with this
I played this on xbox on release and thoroughly enjoyed it and then forgot it ever existed so I never bought it on pc, but I guess I will now, i'll definitely enjoy playing on big screen with a steam controller all these years later now it's cheap as chips
I don't get why this is a thing, I've never heard of anything like this in other forms of media.
I don't get why this is a thing, I've never heard of anything like this in other forms of media.
Other stuff like TV Shows and Movies re-license music too. It's why some older shows seemed to take forever to come out on DVD.
I don't get why this is a thing, I've never heard of anything like this in other forms of media.
GTA3-era game re-releases on Steam and PSN have some radio tracks removed; Daria on DVD doesn't have licenced music, often ruining context of scenes, I remember one episode of X-Files had Bobby Darrin's "Beyond the sea", but the current releases (bluray and VOD) have the French version EDIT: I think Crazy Taxi re-releases had this problem too
Just release the game without music, people will mod it back in.

I guess I must be the only person who was underwhelmed by the first game. I stuck through the repetitive, clunky gameplay on account of the excellent writing, but when the game ended without a satisfying conclusion or explanation it felt like a lot of build-up to nothing. I still love the writing, the notes, and how the whole thing is a love letter to Stephen King, but as a game I have no desire to touch it again. American Nightmare played a lot better (even if going through the same environments three times got to be repetitive), so I'm interested to see where the sequel goes.
i didn't feel disappointed by the ending because i was kind of expecting it tbh. they wrote themselves into a hole, and i couldn't see a way for them to get out of it without a vague non-ending, or some shyamalan tier twist. it does fuck with the replayability factor, but all the fun mystery-solving and the ominous atmosphere that got me to fall in love with the game in the first place is still there. i think i'll give it a few years before i give it another try, though

Actually it's just Bink video files, I just checked. Maybe Bink licencing works in some weird way, like, reencoding a stream means you have to pay again? Wait, I'm dumb; they would have to either remove the music from an already mixed and encoded video, which is not easy (removing EQed music is hard, plus quality loss on reencoding) or dig up their old stuff and remix the audio in the cutscenes
imagine if movies had to put up with this kind of copyright shit. so fucking annoying that they go back and censor this stuff like this. might as well go blot out the mona lisa's face, its destruction of art for sake of copyright

Someone already mentioned Daria case in here.
Alan Wake is a wonderful game, but I personally really hated the American Nightmare and thought it was crap.
Its because of the lime in the coconut isnt it.
Will the licences be renewed? Can they be renewed? If not this is going to suck for future people. Having to pirate a game because of stupid copyright laws preventing the digital sale of a game would be fucking stupid.
They can be, but generally for games this old that this many people already own, the costs don't justify it.
Its because of the lime in the coconut isnt it.
Well now I have to know
Well now I have to know
its also a achievement if you play it again from the same jukebox later in the game this is the only time this song is in the game.
No I know what the lime in the coconut is I meant I need to know if its the song that did the game in because that'd be really funny and sort of meta
Is the discount live for you guys yet?
Is the discount live for you guys yet?
Nyop.
I hopefully I will actually get around to playing this game some time and it won't just rot in my Steam library as it has since I bought it years ago.
Probably not live till 12pm EST since that's when store updates
Didn't something similar happen to GTA: San Andreas, so the Steam release had an update to it which patched out some of the radio soundtracks?
IIRC they actually uploaded a port of the fucking iPad port when that happened
IIRC they actually uploaded a port of the fucking iPad port when that happened
Yeah, everything looked worse. I don't know what the fuck they were thinking.
American Nightmare isn't even on sale. Other stuff is
Can still get it in a bundle £2.99 for all of them http://store.steampowered.com/sub/15407/
Alan, sleep.
I guess it's the right time to finally play this game.
So as someone who knows next to nothing about this game other than hearing it's good, which one should I buy? My friend said get American Nightmare but some in this thread are saying it's bad.
