Why is it every time a big company makes a new logo its a flat boring solid colored cheap piece of shit Can this terrible fad please end
Good logos have to work on first sight and also need to work in a big manner of materials such as newspaper, fax, internet appearances, additional print stuff like magazines and such. Having a logo with gradients for example is a big no no. I can see why they would go for the simple variant.

If I saw the new one at a distance I would have to guess what it was. Honestly, I'd think it's the Chrome logo or something. At least with the blue gradient colour and white lines you can tell that it's the ubisoft logo
flat solid colour design is the standard that should be aimed for - just ones that are good. as everyone else is saying, the little disjointed part of the O is frustrating to look at
the most frustrating part for me is that the ends of the swirls are rectangular. [editline]1st June 2017[/editline] also it kinda looks like :ok:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/dU4zJtm.png[/t]
Now it looks like it's slowly transforming into an "@" symbol. Farcry 20 confirmed to have ASCII graphics.
the O is slightly broken as if someone hand-drew a perfect O but fucked up when finishing it
Funnily, that's their exact reasoning
The swirl and the letter O are both deliberately created to be reminiscent of hand-drawn shapes and represent our human qualities

it's symbolizes the flaws of their games
So if you think about it, it does symbolise their flaws :v:
I wonder how the animated version goes. I liked the previous logo's variations that you had in certain games
Whoah that's gorgeous
It's ugly, nothing more.
[vid]https://giant.gfycat.com/FrighteningMedicalKoi.webm[/vid] Going above and beyond the call of duty.
It's shit. But it fits with Ubisoft's games and their sleek lifeless feel so it actually fits rather well. Good job!
[vid]https://giant.gfycat.com/FrighteningMedicalKoi.webm[/vid] Going above and beyond the call of duty.
all that and he didn't even use the right font
[vid]https://giant.gfycat.com/FrighteningMedicalKoi.webm[/vid] Going above and beyond the call of duty.
this doesn't look like a shit or the logo. it doesn't even spiral
there, fixed. why not make it look more simpler? is the unpolished look supposed to be some kind of metaphor?
http://blog.ubi.com/new-logo-just-like-opinions-man/ Good to see Ubi can take a joke :v:
Pretty much this. The 2003 logo was out of date, and the new one conveys the same basic design in a more usable format while also incorporating some stylization in the text treatment of the brand. The old one just doesn't work in monochrome, turns into a swirly mess at low sizes, and relies on gradients and shadows that now look out of date and are harder to resolve in a visually cluttered medium. The new one reflects the general tech industry trend of redesigning logos to work everywhere with flat, high-contrast, minimalist design and web-safe fonts so content can match the typographic branding. I don't think I've ever seen a logo thread on Facepunch that wasn't a chorus of 'lmao I could do better than that in five minutes of photoshop'. If it were 2003 I guarantee people would be complaining that the 'new' Ubisoft logo has a goofy font, pointless trademark, lack of color, and unnecessary use of drop shadows and layering. Sometimes the criticisms are legitimate, but even the best logos meet resistance simply because they're different from what people are used to.
Yeah it's a pretty decent logo, certainly much more usable than their old one. [editline]2nd June 2017[/editline]
there, fixed. why not make it look more simpler? is the unpolished look supposed to be some kind of metaphor?
If you think you've "fixed" it because you've made it less expressive then u've got another thing comin buddy [editline]2nd June 2017[/editline]
Typography is super lame compared 1986 and 2003. I liked the previous rendition's squared corners on some of the letters (bottom right of U, top left of S, top right of O) but at least it's better than the 1995 one... you could probably make that 1:1 in Word. Whatever though, haven't bought or cared about an Ubisoft product since Blood Dragon.
You could make anything with a stick with poop on it I don't see how the tool of creation have anything to do with it. A logo is not like a painting or 3D model, the concept and usability are very important and are thought of long before some stoned intern opens up illustrator.
The new logo looks like the gun barrel from James Bond films.

Looks like the thing from series of unfortunate events
People always freak out over a logo change, and the next time Ubisoft changes their logo, people will demand the "old" one back.
I dunno, I like it ? Sure it falls inside of the current trend but I don't feel like it's a bad thing. It's still recognizable, it feels more modern and it is in line with the rest of their design philosophy. Gradients are pretty outdated as far as iconography goes. Was about time they grew out of it.
I think i found most of ubisoft intros for their older games https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlksjucKXG0
This is bothering me more than it should
This is a metaphor for all the screen tearing bugs their games tend to have when launching
I think the next logo looks really cool... when there's something behind it. Just on it's own it's a really boring version of the old logo, but if it's say, shown over gameplay footage, it's a pretty nice aesthetic imo.
I think it just needs color.
I think it just needs color.
Most modern logos are now just 1 color, or 2 at most.
looks really lame, i liked the previous one.
