Star Wars: Battlefront II (2017) Will Not Have Season Pass

I like the fact EA is stepping away from the season pass model more and more, but at the same time I sure do wish they'd fucking stop with the $100+ "deluxe editions"
Sad state of the industry that the absence of season pass is news.
What makes people guess no season pass means no DLC, and something like lootcrates or whatever instead?
Not having a season pass just means you can't pre-order both the game AND it's post-release content at the same time. There's really no substantial reason to guess that "classic DLC" isn't happening at this point in time. Besides, it's not like this will be the first game to have DLC and no pass. (Well... for EA it sure will be, as of late anyways)
if i can drop 10 bucks for a pack of lore-inspired trooper/rebel cosmetics, EA can have my money for BF2. I liked battlefront 1 enough to not care that it was a stupid cut-down version of the original series, and I liked it for what it was, which was a more-fun-than-not game on an immersive beautiful star wars backdrop
Titanfall 2 is never going to be abbreviated as "TF2" online. Team Fortress 2 has taken that one.
So that explains the ratings. I always saw it as TF2(Titanfall 2) on some sub-forums too. Then again I understand the confusion.
They don't have to learn shit, the consumers do.
EA have been trying a lot of different distribution methods recently. Of the big publishers I'm probably more willing to give them a chance when they say they changed over say; Activision or Ubisoft. Their willingness to let Respawn go down the whole "free major content, optional paid cosmetics" route for TF|2 gives me some hope that perhaps they're going to try the same here.
Though it does prevent the divisions in the community thanks to maps and shit, the cosmetics in TF|2 aren't super cheap with a single prime Titan being ~£5. But hey, I get to play the new maps, new gamemodes and use new shooters without needing to pay that. I should probably chuck some money towards Respawn, game is dope.
They are probably gonna go towards the Overwatch model, free content updates to draw players in to buy loot boxes instead.
Hopefully it works and Battlefield 2/5 won't require me to buy bullshit
It'd be cool if Disney bought Dice and just let them do whatever. They certainly have the buck.
EA has exclusivity (bar some exceptions like mobile and Lego games) to publish games until the 2020s some time IIRC.

Please don't call it that, I think I'm gonna get an aneurysm.
They just made a battlefield 1 who knows if it's gonna be battlefield 2 or 5

It's NOT gonna be "Battlefield 2". The ONLY REASON can get away with "Battlefield 1" is because the actual name of the first game in the series was "Battlefield 1942".
It's my bet is on the following names:
-Battlefield 5
-Battlefield 1944
-Battlefield WWII
-Battlefield 2143
-Battlefield: Bad Company 3
-Battlefield *Insert Anything but the Number 2 Here*
They backed themselves into a corner with naming the last Battlefront the way they did for a followup game but there's no reason in hell they should name the next game Battlefield 2.
-snip misread-
Battlefield Double

watch as its Battlefield 2_2.
Battlefield 1: Episode 2
Battlefield 1: The Sequel
Season passes for multiplayer games are really a shame. In BF3, BF4 and now in BF1, hardly any one plays the new maps even though some of them are really freaking cool. It's the classic splitting the player base up, making your content null and void a few weeks in as everyone migrates back to the old content seeing as there's hardly any people playing the new. I've finally found some friends to play BF1 with and it's a shame that I can't play the new maps, since they can't afford to get the season pass right now..
plus, the double dipping of micro transactions, and a season pass is really shameful.

And yes there's predence for this because EA had a hand in tf2 and l4d console releases and even sometimes would copyright flag meet the reuploads

the console versions don't have any unlocks
I'd like to point out that Team Fortress 2 on the control didn't have unlocks because Valve abandoned it due to lack of popularity over the PC release / difficulty of maintaining it

I'm willing to consider them calling it "Battlefield II" which i'd be fine with if the internet could distinguish the difference II and 2.
It is clearly going to be Battlefield Two.
But I'd prefer Battlefield Deuces.
I'm still not going to touch this with a 10 foot pole.
The original Battlefront 2 from 12 years ago is still more modable and has people making maps for it.

"Caveat Emptor" is an excuse made by the fucking bourgeois to justify themselves.

They abandoned it because Microsoft and Sony charged for updating their games, remember the paid L4D maps on the xbox?
Battlefield 360
I remember when it was news that a game did have a season pass
Take this with a grain of salt. DICE has been saying since the BC2 days that it wont charge for DLC and map packs, but it does.
