But then America got Trump and it was Lobbied heavily.
Obama had every opportunity to stop it, but his decision was to just wait out the stay until it expired (in February, after Trump took office).
Hey guys check it out. I'm going to make a new thread for every fuel/oil tanker that crashes. 4/25: http://www.wpxi.com/news/top-stories/truck-crash-fuel-spill-close-part-of-route-28-for-most-of-day/515880234 4/30: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/car-tanker-crash-interstate-75-dayton-ohio/ 5/16: http://globalnews.ca/news/3456553/potentially-explosive-situation-in-the-north-okanagan-after-fuel-truck-crashes/ 5/16: http://wncn.com/2017/05/16/i-95-closed-south-of-lumberton/ 5/22: http://www.wral.com/driver-killed-in-fiery-fuel-tanker-crash-in-clayton/16716449/ 5/23: http://www.mercedsunstar.com/news/article152138817.html Here's the thing too. People actually died in some of these. Don't you guys see how fucking annoying it could be if people are posting threads about their politically motivated views and why "trump fucked up!!!" is now an annoyance. I am actually really excited that our country and our world is moving further and further into renewable energy and EV's. The problem is we still have a demand for cheap oil until we don't need it anymore. You can't ignore the fact that if you take 100 oil tankers off the road because you built a pipeline, it's better for everyone.
Agreed. The amount of echo chamber on this forum hurts sometimes. Anyone with differing opinions is dumbed into the dirt to the point to where anyone with an opinion that differs from the status quo are borderline scared to post because they'll get thirty replies flaming them for having a different opinion. Or every thread/post is hyper-analyzed as people desperately search for some sort of "evil" characteristic, be it racism, generalizations, or lack of empathy.
Sounds like we should go nuclear instead. But I digress, that's asking too much from the American people.
Let me know when you design a nuclear reactor small enough and safe enough to put in a car. [editline]26th May 2017[/editline]
I would like to see the frequency of small scale leaks at other pipeline stations to compare this to. A 2 barrel leak and a half barrel leak sounds insignificant considering the daily rate it pumps (hundreds of thousands of barrels per day)
Theres 300ish oil leaks/spills a year, most of which are very small. Its not a horrible rate considering theres 200k+ miles of oil bearing pipelines in the US, not to mention the literal millions of miles of other pipelines carrying other substances in the US alone. DAPL is spilling more than it should, but thats because its still teething. I would also like to reitterate what I said in the other thread, punp stations like the one where the spill happened are generally built on massive rubber mats with dykes around the facility. That way if theres a spill in thw thousands of gallons, its completely contained. I would also like to stress that oil isnt leaking into rivers and playgrounds, its leaking into the best place for oil to spill. [editline]26th May 2017[/editline]
Agreed.
