Manchester Art Gallery removes naked nymphs painting to 'prompt conversation'

And on the other hand, curators rushed to put a pineapple in a display case because they thought it was an art piece when students left it on the floor as a joke. What do they know?
Art is just all over the place. From great pieces by Rembrandt to complete and utter bullshit like dry humping the air so a stick attached to your dick hits a pole
Nothing in the world of art today means anything to me anymore. It just boils down to face value and whether I like it or not. I've given up looking beyond that. We're at a point now where the absence of art has become the discussion, and I guarantee you someone will come by and make the argument that THAT is art
The removal itself is an artistic act
This is the shit that really bothers me. Every little fart made nowadays is an "artistic act" if you just call it that.
Arent old paintings containing naked women just old porn? And art galleries are places to jack off

Security didn't like that
All I see is a blatant publicity stunt trying to capitalize on a popular trend.
Or rather outrage, as some people in this thread have already managed to prove

seems like a pretty successful bit of performance art tbh
What a golden age of censorship we live in.

Someone didn't read the article.

If there's one thing I've learned from comments on news stories, no matter the forum, 90% of people won't read past the headline.

So, the painting is back, nothing has changed, but now the museum has gotten more exposure. Sounds like a familiar marketing tactic but the name escapes me.

It's amazing how using peoples outrage over supposed outrage as marketing works so well
I love how using outrage to boost publicity isn't something that just the edgy ~non-pc~ crowd can get away with now.
If you do something that could even slightly be mistaken as being done for political correctness then you get the same reaction you would once have gotten if you put out something intentionally offensive in order to stir up controversy.
I will never not find "Everyone is so easily offended and that offends me" anything short of hilarious.
