I'm gonna miss being able to hit Winkey+R and type mspaint to instantly draw stuff
I don't think it really should be on Microsoft to keep packing in and maintaining things that are hardly used or deprecated, further bloating windows more than it already is. You were always able to install old versions of paint (such as the god-tier xp version,) and there'll more than likely be ways to do custom screensavers as well.
I mean, because I hated the modern Paint so much, last year I had the old XP Paint program just sitting on my Windows 7 taskbar. No registry bullshit or anything. Haven't bothered with that sort of stuff since I got my new PC in September though.
no need for registry bullshit. Just put it in your windows folder (prolly best as a shortcut) and then you can call it with win + r.
UWP is a mistake, there is no acceptable reason for a fucking calculator taking 2 whole seconds to open on an SSD based system with an octocore and DDR4 running in DOCP/XMP. Can't wait until paint is turned into the same type of shit and the only solution is to just use the old one.
I'm gonna miss being able to hit Winkey+R and type mspaint to instantly draw stuff
Paint 3D is also called mspaint. Careful, it may switch over soon. [editline]24th July 2017[/editline] Remember kids, XP programs usually work in 10. If you drag and drop 3D Pinball to 10, it will work. Perhaps Paint can be the same way? [editline]24th July 2017[/editline] Fuck, even Win2K shit works

I've been trying to find the xp exe to make a little post showing how to get old paint working but damn it's almost like I'll have to go find my xp laptop to get the exe off of. edit: actually i might just do that. Is it warez if I put a drive link if i do? :v:

It takes like 1 second to press start+r and type mspaint, it takes ages to find paint3d, then wait for it to open. Paint was great for just drawing out ideas that I had.
Paint is so fucking useful, I've relied upon taking screen caps and drawing arrows to problems and making a quick comment. No wait time, no complexity in the way, you're said and done in under a minute no matter what machine you used.

Also yep you were right, xp paint will just run on windows 10 no problem. edit: Craptasket said I'm fine so here for anyone interested https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B4So75kZSZZ7VG90cmg0aE1LZHM?usp=sharing I put instructions in there
How am I gonna quickly crop images? Usually: 1) Print Screen 2) Win + R -> mspaint 3) Paste -> Crop -> Save 4) Done and upload.
How am I gonna quickly crop images? Usually: 1) Print Screen 2) Win + R -> mspaint 3) Paste -> Crop -> Save 4) Done and upload.
ShareX, Gyazo, the cropping tool that comes with Windows by default? There's a lot of ways to do it almost instantaneously.
How am I gonna quickly crop images? Usually: 1) Print Screen 2) Win + R -> mspaint 3) Paste -> Crop -> Save 4) Done and upload.
get sharex bro. You seem to be talking about desktop screenshots so it's ctrl+printscreen (it's already in the background) highlight what you want done windows also has snipping-tool but I'll just take any opportunity I get to shill sharex, and you can customize the uploader to automatically upload to many different choices

Does this mean an end to the beloved series of MS Paint Adventures?
Even imgur instantly?
https://getsharex.com/#destinations you'd be surprised
Good riddance. If they had half a brain they'd have paint.net installed from the get-go. It's an old feature for sure, and I remember it even in windows 98, but does ANYONE honestly use it in any serious manner? I've always preferred paint.net. Bit lame they're removing features though.
I use it constantly at work as a quick cropping tool for screencaps
https://getsharex.com/#destinations you'd be surprised
Will give it a try, thanks.
good news, it's not going anywhere, only it will be on windows store https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2017/07/24/ms-paint-stay/

MS Paint is great for sprite work and Paint 3D causes a blue screen on my laptop.
The Microsoft Store thinks anything that isn't the drive the OS is on is an external drive apparently.

It's a new shortcut added in creators update. You can just do that and then ctrl + v in imgur to upload.
