A coach that pushed me really hard to care about graduating died from his gun wounds, he shielded like 5 kids with his body and died as a result. What a fucking hero. Seeing the videos of kids stuck in the classrooms with dead bodies surrounded by pools of blood makes me sick. All I’m seeing on Facebook is about it. And seeing all the families affected forever by losing their kids [editline]15th February 2018[/editline]
One of the worst things is that it seems like this was one of the more preventable shootings ever. The kid practically told everyone he was going to do it but no one listened. No one.
The school has a pretty bad history of getting rid of kids like him just thinking getting him away from the school would fix the problem. There was this kid that made a kill list at the school with a list of kids names he wanted dead who only got expelled and that was it. Never reported to other schools that he might have a mental problem
Is it cynical or realistic to think that perhaps most human beings aren't responsible enough to own guns?
Is it cynical or realistic to think that perhaps most human beings aren't responsible enough to own guns?
I think that "hey it's wrong to shoot someone" is the default for most people.
Is it cynical or realistic to think that perhaps most human beings aren't responsible enough to own guns?
not a big gun person myself but I would think most people wouldn't think to kill others no matter what you give them

No one.
I feel that's the case of a lot of school shootings. A person shows obvious warning signs that they are going to shoot up a school but some group of people (family, friends, peers, school staff, law enforcement, etc.) showed gross negligence and failed to prevent something that could have been easily prevented.
fuck you, you fucking shitstain of a president. this is literally victim blaming, AND it's completely ignorant of the fact that the shooter had been reported countless times i don't think i've ever been angrier at a single tweet
Is it cynical or realistic to think that perhaps most human beings aren't responsible enough to own guns?
I've never met a gun owner that's killed or shot someone (not counting military) Most people are responsible with most things.
What more can you guys do about this? Deep down we know this won't be the last attack on a school, (or other place of learning for young people) how can you defend them? Should these places be defended? Is it right to have a armed protective presence in your schools? What protective measures are in place now and are they enough?
It's a bummer whenever this happens because it feels like nothing will change because of reasons people have told me about hundreds of times before. oh well, see you all next time someone decides to shoot up a bunch of people.
But we gave them our thoughts and prayers! How isn't that fixing this!?
I've never met a gun owner that's killed or shot someone (not counting military) Most people are responsible with most things.
Gun owners dont need to shoot someone to be irresponsible, they only need to leave their guns someplace that someone who will shoot people can access them. Where are all the school shooters getting their guns?

This is two days from that tweet meaning he intentionally tweeted into that chain. Or his motor controls have degraded so much he can't even use Twitter. Either way what a fucking awful tweet from a president after such an event. Rather than trying to bring those who've suffered together he's pointing fingers.
It's looking like a joke from /pol/:
The Steele dossier was supposed to be a /pol/ joke too with similar looking screengrabs but we know that wasn't true.
Jordan Jereb has been in the news before, so I don't think this is necessarily a /pol/ joke, [DEL]since he has confirmed that Cruz was a part of ROF.[/DEL]
Local law enforcement says no link found though
Leon County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Grady Jordan said investigative work Thursday did not yield any connections. “We are still doing some work but we have no known ties between the ROF, Jordan Jereb or the Broward shooter,” Jordan said.
http://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/2018/02/15/florida-school-shooting-suspect-nikolas-cruz-member-white-nationalist-militia-tallahassee-leader-say/341751002/

The AP never tweeted a statement saying it's unconfirmed despite saying it in the article of one of the tweets thanks says he was a white supremacist... People are running with it without a solid confirmation. Seems a bit dishonest. They have a responsibly to correct their false information.
They need to properly verify this information before running it, yeesh.

"HAHA IF WE SPREAD THIS FAKE INFORMATION THEY'LL BE EMBARRASSED!" nr lol. The news casters will just issue a redaction of the information as new information has cropped up and they'll go about their lives unfazed. Running mis-information campaigns only really works if it becomes borderline impossible to issue a redaction and simple apology over the false information. And considering it's a board of white supremacist inbreds it's kinda funny they'd want to implicate white supremacy into a mass shooting. But hey, this is your brain on...well. There's not really a brain there thinking of it.
One of the leaders of the RoF confirmed that Cruz is a member, so either the /pol/ thing is a lie or the RoF guy is lying to get more mainstream attention and further radicalized his base
The police say he had no known link to any white nationalist group despite the police knowing this group well. It seems fishy to me and I don't think it's something that should be treated as confirmed yet. If he's a member why isn't it apparent to the police?

General rule of thumb in these situations is, essentially, "check back in a week or so when people have their facts together" because in people's scramble for answers, they shoot out any and all information for the sake of being the first with "the scoop."
One of the leaders of the RoF confirmed that Cruz is a member, so either the /pol/ thing is a lie or the RoF guy is lying to get more mainstream attention and further radicalized his base
apparently the leader has been trying to get attention like this since 2014, so the /pol/ thing is a lie and his own words are a lie it seems
I mean I expect white nationalists to be morally bankrupt, but associating with a school shooting... :wow:
I mean I expect white nationalists to be morally bankrupt, but associating with a school shooting... :wow:
you expected the people who want to be associated with genocide to have like, standards? this is just like ISIS taking credit for every attack that happens around the world, whether they're involved or not, they want to instill fear in as many of their enemies as possible, by any means necessary
you expected the people who want to be associated with genocide to have like, standards?
Uh, what genocide are neo-nazis associating themselves with? That didn't happen, you know. /s
Perhaps, but I'll still lay a shit ton of blame on the parents for not paying enough attention to their fucking kid to see this coming to a head...
Reading more into the situation, the stepfather was probably pretty preoccupied over the sudden death of his wife in November.
