Shooting at Florida School, Shooter IS in custody.

Did you guys know that in America it costs more for a single tylenol from 30 minute hospital visit than it does to purchase a shotgun from walmart?
That should say something. How do you expect to have a country that doesn't murder itself when guns are more readily available than healthcare? It's just insane.
The shooter was a student and well known for having some issues:

did anyone think to reach out to him or anyone else about it in any way?
I love how some of the morons in this thread think that doing something about the oversaturation of guns in America means completely banning them.
Grow up.

I think that says less about guns, and more about how absolutely fucked up our healthcare system is tbh
I'm fine with both guns, and smarter rules.

Well damn, it's one thing that it occurs, it's on a whole other level when the students start to accurately predict shootings. Must be pretty frightening climate to live in.
All it took was a "buzz word" to get you back into actual proper debating. Excellent. Now that people can actually talk and debate with you let's actually refute. That's great that we can agree that it is a mental health issue and I also agree with finding a way into the job force as early as possible.
However just before you were pulling shit like this.
Hence why I called your posts mental gymnastics cause they absolutely damn well are and this reeks of crazy. It's not a buzz word.
my posts were condescending as all hell sure but posting timidly definitely wasn't gonna get my point across. I consider them all to be legitimate points (even if I probably should've added "allegedly" to that third post, but I was getting pretty riled up by that point) and the first two were in reply to people who pulled way worse mental gymnastics than I ever have ("this is a direct result of conservatives"? really?)
... or take a look at what other countries do with gun laws and give that a shot too
What kind of specific examples would you like to provide?
The fact that you can buy a FUCKING GUN in supermarket has always baffled me...
What kind of specific examples would you like to provide?
canada, uk, denmark, sweden, norway, anywhere non-thirdworld
What kind of specific examples would you like to provide?
Australia, Great Britain, Norway, Should I continue?
Can I post screen caps of his now deleted Instagram since he's confirmed?
So wait, the students predicted that this was gonna happen from said individual? Why did no one report it or try to do anything about it???
The fact that you can buy a FUCKING GUN in supermarket has always baffled me...
why is it surprising that you can buy a "FUCKING GUN" in a place meant to sell everything?
So wait, the students predicted that this was gonna happen from said individual? Why did no one report it or try to do anything about it???
they even said they joked about it. this could indicate bullying as well

This type of coverage (Releasing the shooter's name, discussing his personality, etc) only makes things worse.
News stations need to get a grip.

Idk, I am kinda used to buying food or home stuff.
Not a device thats used in a battlefield.

Considering the absolute bullshit attitude a lot of schools have to being confronted about bullying, I can't blame people for expecting schools to have a similar attitude to something like that.

"Mr school I think this former student will shoot this place up"
Like what could they even do?
The system is fucked.

I was talking about examples of specific policies or laws that you think should be instituted, not the countries themselves.

what kind of guns do you think they sell at wal mart? it's not artillery pieces, it's mostly just hunting rifles and hunting shotguns, with an occasional .22 target rifle or skeet shotgun. they keep them in the hunting section, right next to all the other things you use to harvest game.
So wait, the students predicted that this was gonna happen from said individual? Why did no one report it or try to do anything about it???
I bet some kids did try, but it fell on deaf ears or someone from the school administration said "not my problem." I know if I thought another student was unstable and posed a potential threat, I'd be talking to whoever I can about it.
I don't really get this whole "Guns are designed to KILL innocent people and that's IT" mentality. Of the millions upon millions of rifles owned in the US, they are used in very low numbers proportionate to the amount of guns out there. The vast, vast, vast majority of people who own guns use them to target shoot, collect, hunt, modify like lego's, and allow people to defend themselves. I guess they are all just using them incorrectly?
Guns aren't meant to kill innocent people, but they are meant to kill. That is what guns are for. Killing things. Could be animals, could be people who speak a different language than you or your Lord is mad at for some other reason, could be a burglar or a criminal. But they're meant for killing. Competitive shooting, target-shooting, customization and modification are all subclasses or variations of honing that skill.
Just like competitive hammering is a thing (at least in bumfuck nowhere Denmark where I'm from); a thing that simulates the act of hammering for work and rewards the person who hammers the best, competitive shooting is, in it's essence, (And pro-gun folks, please don't stop reading after the following sentence because I'm gonna get around to a part that is not anti-gun in a moment after I've made my point here) practising and rewarding the skills used to kill.
I am not saying that owning a gun makes you a killer or a maniac. Shooting, while the root purpose is inherently violent, is not a violent act or indication of being a violent shooter. Like any other sort of free-time activity, it's largely positive. Can be relaxing, rewarding, therapeutic, all that jazz. Hell, lots of sports essentially boil down to 'this is practising killing'. Archery. Javelins. Fencing. Marathon-running if you wanna go stone-age. Shooting is no different than those. All with different levels of abstraction. IPSIC is a shooting sport clearly more oriented towards combat-skills, where olympic pistol is about precision and finesse further removed from the violent origins. Same with fencing; classical fencing is far-removed from stabby-to-killy and much more about form and tight rules, while HEMA is much closer.
I am not making this post to say anything one way or the other in the larger gun debate, because here on Facepunch, that's retarded.
All I'm saying is; guns are made for killing. That's what they're made for. Believing anything else is either delusional or completely retarded.
Man, this thread moves fast. When I started writing, the post I'm replying to was the latest. v:v:v

Supposedly there were two different accounts. Both were wiped. Not sure if either of them were confirmed to be his.

A lot of people use guns to get food. They also sell hunting licenses and orange hunting clothes next to the guns but everyones gotta jump to conclusion that it's the Murder aisle.
Hell I had a good friend in college (in an urban environment) who was able to hunt and fish every morning -whatevers in season- because he lived out of town. He had more fresh meat than he knew what to do with so he gives it away as gifts.
