That is pretty hard to do.
Can this and just make a Lando movie with Glover
They will eventually. The Star Wars writers/think-tanks are creatively bankrupt, so they'll make a movie out of anyone in the canon until it stops making money.

Maybe for the movies, but the novels are very creative.

Imagine having to go to a book store to find decent Star Wars media.
Looks like they couldn't find a place to put chewie so they just shoved him in at the side at an angle just to get his face in, and some completely unheard of pointless women for dolla

I meant the new canon.

I don't really give a shit about this.
Oh no, we don't have lookalikes
oh no, we have actors who were hired on their ability to act, not how identical they look to another person
I meant the new canon.
Have you actually read any of the new canon books, namely the movie books? They're hilariously bad. They're either 1:1 with the movie scripts with nothing else added, or crammed full of nonsensical information that was thesaurused to hell and back.

The original directors ended up hiring an acting coach for Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo) if the numerous articles prior to Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s departure are to be believed.
Internally, Disney is allegedly very concerned with how this film will turn out.
It smells like a cash grab to me. Who was asking for a Han Solo film any how? Some things are better left to mystery. It’s the same reason why Lucas explaining that the Force is just bacteria was so badly received.
Just let the mysterious smuggler be a mysterious smuggler.

Ironic given that the guy playing Han apparently needed an acting coach for like, every scene.

Everybody has wanted a Han Solo film since star wars has existed what do you mean
The fan hype behind the idea of a Han Solo or Boba Fett isolated story has existed for decades!

I'm really hoping that if they do a Boba spin off it isn't casted as tragically as this.

People have been asking for Han Solo and Boba Fett stand-alone movies, not origin stories.
The last thing anyone cares about is where Han Solo got his blaster or his belt or any shit like that. People just wanted to see Harrison Ford doing Han Solo adventures.

I don't read movie novelizations.
I've read most of the new canon novels, really can't think of any that were bad. The ones I have heard were bad (like Aftermath) I avoided.

Sorry, I should have phrased that better.
Who has been asking for a Han Solo origin story film?
It’s been a super long time since I’ve seen a Star Wars film so admittedly my opinion is a little less than irrelevant but I love Donald Glover and the many projects he’s either been a part of or created.
I don’t particularly have high hopes for the movie itself, especially since The Last Jedi seemed to be super divisive and questionable at times but at the very least I’m hoping the cast for this production put in some stellar work for their roles. (I’d be real bummed if Donald phoned it in regardless if the movie bombed or not.)

What ability to act? They had to bring acting coaches in for the guy halfway through production. As far as I can tell the deciding factor in his casting was Spielberg meeting him at a Bar Mitzvah and telling Kathleen Kennedy to hire him.

I'm more talking about Donald Glover than anyone else to be honest.
He's a great actor, and I highly doubt his sections of the film will let me down, personally.
Have we seriously gotten to the point where the fork shape in the falcon now has a backstory?
Hm wait, according to TFA's Cross-Sections, the prongs were used to move cargo.

Maybe the director/designers don't give a shit about a sentence in a children tie in book.

you realize those books are written by the guy who is the loremaster for star wars, right? pablo hidalgo is the guy that makes sure everything is consistent and basically his only job is to flesh out the lore

Anthony Ingruber is miles ahead of Alden Ehrenreich. He was the worst part of Hail Caesar.
also a prediction: that freighter in the art isn't the falcon
I really don't know I feel about the guy they got for Han. He really doesn't look much like Harrison Ford at all. This Ingruber guy looks more like him, hell, Ashton Kutcher looks more like him.

Yeah, I'm aware of that actually. I still doubt that the film directors and artists are going to let a design they think is cool be overwritten by a small snippet from a writer who's a (relatively) small part of Disney's Star Wars strategy. They can always retcon shit.

personally i think they made it look like that since obviously it cant look like the same hunk of junk it is in ANH. I bet the YT in the art is a different model, or it'll probably get destroyed at some point and rebuilt
I honestly feel this is going to be a case of a casting choice making it impossible to get into a movie for me. He doesn't look at all like Han. And even if he did, is he going to mimick Ford'd acting and Solo's attitude and body language? How well? And if he doesn't it will just look absolutely weird.
Origin stories suck and will always suck to me. It doesnt matter why characters are the way they are. The whole charm is them being interesting now, not spending 2h explaining why they were the way they were in a better movie. And a lot of Han's appeal was him mentionning adventures you never get to see, and what actually happened is irrelevent, knowing him he might be lying to look good, and 5 people are trying to kill him for what he actually did that time. His pessimism and pragmatism worked in contrast with Luke's idealism. Idk the whole idea of the movie is flawed to me but its probably gonna be fan service fest and make 10 times profit.
I really feel they didnt do a new movie with Ford set between the originals and TFA to avoid paying his probably huge legendary actor fee. And that would have been way more interesting to me and set up TFA better the way Rogue One made A New Hope even better. I'm going to see The Last Jedi this week but I doubt it explains a lot of unanswered questions in TFA's exposition that weakened the movie alot.
I really feel like this movie is going to be the biggest bomb in Star Wars history. It's got bad vibes all over it. I'll see it because I see every Star Wars movie in theaters as a service to my childhood self, but I doubt I'll end up liking it.
I feel like this is not a good place to go when trying to branch out. Trying to do younger versions of existing characters in general is not going to go down well. I'd rather see something more creative that is thoroughly in it's separate place. Adapt KotOR for instance.
is this the best the imagineers can do? crack the whip harder mister mouse.

Oh my god, please don't, stop going the safe route Hollywood don't listen to this person.
If ya soo into banging star wars atleast do us all favor and just make a friggen "100 years into future in galaxy far far away" and just let all the used material rest, enough with prequels, enought with stories or vydia-made-moviya. Start soo far away from butchered canon that it can no longer influence your story to a point of throwing up from all the member berries.
Like, jeesh i dunno, someting about [sp] the foreshadowed "The Force United- where although Jedi and siths are long past gone, the force being graesh mess now, becomes too hard and dangerous for new users too syphon and you have two factions - heavely regulated knights within republic that use both light and dark side under strict guidance and restriction to their powers, and runaway faction of unbound force users who stabilize their power through genocide of lesser, weak users or just force sensitive people to pump their energy...
it's like X-men in space...
JUST DO THE X-MEN IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE
