Wait what? I had no idea this movie was coming out in May, I thought it would come out in December just like all the other Star Wars movies

Star Wars movies used to come out in M, it's a tradition of sorts.
Force Awakens was delayed, Last Jedi was delayed, recently IX was delayed too, they were all supposed to come out in May
God I fucking forgot Emilia Clarke was in this
God I fucking forgot Emilia Clarke was in this
Do people hate her or something? I know she's famous for GoT, but I haven't seen it, so I basically know nothing about her

Her acting is, barring a few scenes in GoT, just alright. Not bad enough to be jarring, not good enough to keep up with the much more experienced actors around her.
Maybe she'll surprise in this movie, but the cynical side of me says she was cast because she's so popular in GoT right now.

she's alright in got but she was pretty bad in terminator
Emilia Clarke looks silly as ever. Should've covered her in makeup made her an alien. Dunno why Lucasfilm loves generic brunettes so much.
I wonder Disney allowed them to actually use the criminal smuggler, Han 'Shoots-first' Solo in this or if they made him a hero to be family friendly.
Definitely won't have the edgy grime a crime movie should
Emilia ranges from decent to absolutely terrible, it’s really weird
Oh no not Emilia Clarke...I mean even in the books her character's entire plotline was unbearable to me but damn her acting didn't help it at all.
And again with casting issues with this movie...all of GoT casts will just look like GoT characters playing in other movies to me. I didn't know any of them before GoT beside Sean Bean and watched them play that role for 70h+ now (not even counting how many times I rewatched some seasons). I just can't help it, if I identify too much that actor it doesn't allow me to get into the movie, unless they're very hidden under makeup and costumes. Which defies the point of hiring famous actors instead of talented ones in the first place.
I couldn't get into most of Gravity because it was just "George Clooney in space". Idk if it's just me but huge actors like that ruign movies for me.
you realize those books are written by the guy who is the loremaster for star wars, right? pablo hidalgo is the guy that makes sure everything is consistent and basically his only job is to flesh out the lore
Nah, he didn't, the Cross Section book was written by Jason Fry.
Pablo handles the visual dictionaries.
Though it still has to go through story group approval.
Harbie is right though, directors/writers do have leeway with the canon, it isn't all set in stone. A small note in a reference book could be retconned if it works for the story.
personally i think they made it look like that since obviously it cant look like the same hunk of junk it is in ANH. I bet the YT in the art is a different model, or it'll probably get destroyed at some point and rebuilt
I think those are modifications Lando made, maybe he didn't use it for hauling cargo. Han then reverts some of the changes when he acquires it.
Guess i'd say don't judge a book by its cover but this cover is certainly bad. It also tells me next to nothing about the movie itself, like if you look at the star wars posters you can usually make up the bad guys or plot elements.

These are not official posters, they're mock-ups made by a licencee, probably using official promo material
They were not made by LucasFilm or Disney.
So is Han still gonna be a former imperial officer? If he isnt then thats kinda stupid since his past is hinted at in RotJ and arguably in ANH
So is Han still gonna be a former imperial officer?
That is no longer part of his backstory.

He still rescued Chewie from imprisonment though.
I really feel like this movie is going to be the biggest bomb in Star Wars history. It's got bad vibes all over it. I'll see it because I see every Star Wars movie in theaters as a service to my childhood self
I know you're far from the only person with this mentality so I don't mean to single you out, but I can't help but feel like this is exactly why Disney is going to keep making movies nobody asked for and profit wildly no matter how bad they are.
I'll watch it to support Donglover because his parts will be great but otherwise, well, I've got a bad feeling about this.
Anthony Ingruber has also already been in a film with Harrison Ford where he literally played the younger version of Ford’s character. The fact that they didn’t even give the guy an audition is fucking stupid.
They had an actor who has actually been in sort of famous films (Hail, Caeser!) and was personally selected by Spielberg; and a guy somebody found on YouTube, who played in short sections of a relatively unknown film. While not giving him an audition was stupid, I can see the thought procrss
That is no longer part of his backstory.

Laaaaaame
So now he's just some generic smuggler guy? Fuckin' bleh man.
I thought Han wasn't ever a imperial officer, just considered joining?
I thought Han wasn't ever a imperial officer, just considered joining?
Nah, he was a TIE pilot

Everyone being an imperial defector is bleh.
Han doesn't have a real backstory yet in the new canon, that is what this movie is doing.
The most we know is that he grew up on the streets of Corellia as an orphan.
It's true, all of it.

I can't believe a fucking Star Wars movie comes out in 4 months and all we have is the title, a leaked Russian calendar, and some leaked Legos.

i thought ron howard delayed it to december?
i thought ron howard delayed it to december?
it apparently isn't ruled out but no official delay has been issued, and at this point I would be very surprised if there was. Disney might just eat the "loss" on this one (since it will still make hundreds of millions of dollars even if it isn't great)

Better quality.

Assuming that Lego set is legit, Kessel run and Lando cape is confirmed
That lego set looks weird, why isn't the front of the Falcon split into two like it's supposed to be? Am I missing something
And something I didn't give much thought to or whatever, someone claiming the Falcon's look breaks canon with some art from Force Awakens

I don't really care about "breaking canon" but this looked fantastic
I love the idea of the Millenium Falcon being an industrial type ship that had a powerful engine to move cargo around, but no one dared pilot at high speeds because it handles like a barge. It fits Han's "rough around the edges, but with a heart of gold" persona so well

It's like stripping down a pickup truck to use it as a racing wagon. I love it.
