IIRC Bioware had a huge brain drain around ME3 and DA: Inquisition. A lot of their talent left.
With ME3 was that before or after the finale was made to be three colorful variations on the same ending?
Tbh It's pretty disgusting that people feel the need to track down the ~person responsible~ for funny faces in a video game. I thought fallout 4 was a massive fucking disappointment on multiple levels, but I didn't see anyone tracking down the writers and spinning some narrative about diversity hiring ruining the industry back then.
Her animation isn't bad tbh its just REALLY cartoony, and I can now see why the animation on ME are so wonky looking, their either way to emotive for a normal human or show none at all But like everyone else is saying, its not her fault she got hired she did her job. This is all on bioware for picking an unsuitable lead
There are many things fundamentally wrong with the animations in her animation reel, its not just cartoony.
Imagine being one of the actual animators who know what they were doing that had to work under her guidance

A 2nd year anything should not in charge of any department on a AAA title such as this. It's not her fault. It's the people who hired her who are at fault here.
Imagine being one of the actual animators who know what they were doing that had to work under her guidance
Must be awful, imagine working under a lead software engineer who can't tell the difference between a text editor and photoshop.
You do have to wonder how this got so bad - surely this woman caught on that she was in way over her head? Surely testers and hell, other developers picked up on the substandard work? I'd be very interested in hearing exactly how her position was so mismanaged that she ended up Lead Facial Animator, because right now it's rather bizarre to think about.
Oh, I was worried that today's quota for "Internet needlessly shames and scars yet another person's life" isn't going to be reached. Good work, media. Pack up. Go home and rest. Clock back in same time tomorrow.

I feel like that's the main problem with the AAA industry now, a lot of business people that have zero interest or knowledge of games got into it because they saw it's profitable so they don't actually care about managing their teams in a way that leads to them making great games, only in a way that leads to them making profitable games. But that's also kinda what every big creative industry is.
Money must be tight for Bioware. Wonder what they spend it on
As much as blaming EA for everything is overdone in the last several years, I do think this is a problem with the big publisher themselves. You don't just have a team of under-experienced developers working on a major IP release for no reason. I like to think Bioware, as flawed of a company as they are, has more passion for their IPs than that. And even if they didn't, why did EA let it happen?
I'm glad that the appropriate reaction to someone doing a poor job on a video game is to find out who they are and list all their social media in one convenient place [editline]18th March 2017[/editline] I'm sure there is no real reasoning behind doing that
Oh, I bet she’s very experienced indeed. I have an idea how she landed this gig.

[...] but also wtf is this source? It literally has a group masturbation (parody) gif to suggest how she got the job? And actually link to pewdiepie to catch you up on the story? I feel like shit-tier witch-hunt journalism like this shouldn't be posted.
To put things into perspective, the site owner (and probably also author of this, but I'm not going to give him a view to check) was largely ousted by GamerGate fairly early on for being way too extreme. I'm not going to link it, but ED has a pretty good overview on him.
None at all, this is a source with no nefarious intentions behind it at all.
it's just a bunch of harmless fun gamers, personally attacking someone over video games, its their fault anyway for having social media in the first place to connect with colleagues and peers
It's baffling that this happened. Like based on her background I could imagine her going pretty far in the film or TV industry with practical design and effects, but how did she get hired to lead a computer animation department? Like I'm sure there's hundreds of people who would have killed for the job that were more qualified.

Next time, they should hire someone more competent. Like Brianna Wu
I don't want to stereotype and assume that this lady sucked dick to get in this position but I really believe this happened.

a couple of "animation" jobs for a few months... how do imbeciles like this get hired into leadership position did she blow someone she had to have is there a link to her portfolio somewhere
Yeah I'm just gonna go ahead and call this out as sexist BS How many incompetent male designers has FP complained about over the years? Boy it sure is weird that I never see "sexual favors" as an assumption there, must be a complete coincidence

I already feel sorry for her. I mean, she did a poor job, we'll all agree to that but it doesn't justify the hate that's going towards her now. Like other people here mentioned, she had potential but I guess she'll leave the gaming community after this.

[editline]edit[/editline] Twitter's soft-bans are getting way out of hand. I didn't see @OnlyCincinnatus's tweet in that chain until I embedded this tweet. It's a direct reply to the tweet Hogie bear embedded earlier, just so the conversation is clear.
I mean, people identified the Fallout 4 head writer partway into the teasing of FO4 because he was the same guy that wrote the Skyrim Civil War arc thing, which sucked, and people were like "oh shit this might suck" and then it super did I think it's fine for people to be curious how this happened, acting like a crackhead about it afterwards is their own problem
Idk man, I get what you are saying but I'm pretty sure I never saw anyone involved in that game have their social media profiles linked in one convenient place, and nobody ever implied they got the job by performing sexual favours. This whole thing is still pretty fresh and it's already starting to stink like a retarded sexist witchhunt.
Next time, they should hire someone more competent. Like Brianna Wu
Will she be able to work on video games while she's in Congress?
Could someoen with the 10 hour trial check the actual credits of the game? Most games these days do have a credits option on the main menu.
This is going to turn into what I think it's going to turn into, isn't it? [sp]another gamergate scenario[/sp]
Is bioware run by monkeys or something? Did they fire all of the talent?
afaik the main studio (Bioware Montreal) behind ME:A never launched a full-fledged game on their own. They've mostly done DLC in the past. Bioware Edmonton is working on a new IP and Bioware Austin is doing that Star Wars mmo.
I don't think one person is responsible for all the trash animations in the game. Aren't several people needed in general to get this shit done because of how long it takes?
Idk man, I get what you are saying but I'm pretty sure I never saw anyone involved in that game have their social media profiles linked in one convenient place, and nobody ever implied they got the job by performing sexual favours. Even if they weren't her animations, she still should've been responsible enough to correct them as the team lead. For sure, the woman in question is not entirely at fault; however, that doesn't make this whole thing a "witch hunt."
This is going to turn into what I think it's going to turn into, isn't it? [sp]another gamergate scenario[/sp]
honestly I think it won't purely because there's already a hateboner towards bioware after ME3 and DA:O so it'll just make the donger stronger instead of having this woman get flak for it
