I wonder if they're discontinuing it because of the licensing deal Nintendo had with the distribution of the third party roms? I mean it could be one explanation I guess?
Not an owner, but I can assume most titles were first party, to which this would not apply to. Second, if these titles are sold on any of the eshop for consoles, then this also would not apply. But if at any case there was one title out of any of the umpteen titles that could run into a licensing issue, it sounds like nintendo would cancel everything instead of continue it without the removed items. Not like people could just hack them back in, so I've heard that hacking them has been accomplished
I kinda wanted an. NES Classic even though I already own an original NES. If only because finding good games for the NES is expensive as hell because people price the good ones at upwards of 30 dollars a piece. Hard to afford a lot of games.
So it turns out that Nintendo announced that their stopping the production of the Famicom Mini except.... It's temporary. Shows you Nintendo's priorities, huh?
Hello incoming outrageous Ebay & Flea Market prices how are you today?

Only thing that's been ridiculous so far is $30+ for SNES Doom anywhere above not abysmal condition. At least with Wolfenstein 3D I was able to get a cheap import copy.
Nintendo once again proves their business savvy by no longer selling what people wanted to buy.
Where can you get USB adapters for the controllers?
These are the ones i have but there's others available now that are a bit cheaper. http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?cPath=21
Where can you get USB adapters for the controllers?
Raphnet makes some quality ones and he has a shitton of adapters that no one makes (a fucking Virtual Boy adapter for one)
Part of me wanted one, but another part of me listened to people that said quality was not the greatest. Then again, its a tiny lil NES. Ah well, not the end of the world, but come on Ninty, stop being so silly.

Reminds me of this one reseller I see when I do Flea Market runs with my friend. The guy has some decent, in-box NES games for fucking massively insane prices. He wanted 300 bucks for Gotcha! CIB. Knowing him he'll probably have one or two classics he won't let go for under $500. I was actually planning on getting one recently until this news just hit. Fat chance now.
[T]http://gonintendo.com/system/file_uploads/uploads/000/025/042/medium/uqetmdrzcwezoxces7qf.png[/T] Well the scalpers are already having a field day.
Well now it's definitely not worth it. It is probably more expensive to get an NES and each game on the mini. I did some light skimming, added up results, and without actually trying to find much of a bargain, it's up to $393 dollars for all that. That is more expensive, but that's counting a lot of games on the mini you probably don't want. Do you give a shit about Tecmo Bowl? Balloon Fight? Diddy Kong Jr? Simon's Quest? You can save yourself a lot of money by just getting the ones you want. And unlike the mini, you don't have to hack it to be able to add more games. Not to mention this isn't counting garage sales, thrift stores, bargains on ebay that you could find if you spent more than 10 seconds searching, you could easily walk away with the actual authentic hardware with games you actually want and have spent less money than you would on a scalper's mini.
At the end of the day though aren't they just grey market consoles using shady emulation loopholes and (for the ones that don't have slots for official cartridges) pirated games?
i always just saw them as a collector's item. for them to discontinue it doesn't really bother me, because i'm not missing out on anything if i can still emulate my marios and zeldas.
well there go my hopes of ever owning one lol [editline]kappa[/editline] seriously why the fuck? i don't know shit about the manufacturing process on these things but considering a lot of the value from them comes from old ROMS of 20 year old games, surely the profit per unit must be high enough to justify it when they literally fly off the shelves every time they restock??
Funny, I recently saw a small stack of them in a store here. Maybe I should get into scalping.
It's a bit tricky to set-up but once your good it runs it flawlessly.
How so? Last time I set it up it was pretty much just burning it to an SD card and boot it from that
Nah next year Nintendo will again sell another version of 'classic' consoles with like 10 games on it for half the price of PS4 The NES Classic didn't even come with cartridges, which imo is the charm of old consoles. Choosing which games to play through the menu seems too modern, too 6th gen for me
Probably doesn't, but maybe it has something to do with the Virtual Console on the Switch?
Probably doesn't, but maybe it has something to do with the Virtual Console on the Switch?
I heard it could have something to do to licensing the 3rd party games included on the system, either some license or bullshit deal expired or anyone of the 3rd parties threw a hissy fit, so Nintendo went full lazy and just stopped production altogether in fear of a lawsuit. Thanks for attending our "Why capitalism sucks 101" course, next class we'll talk about patents
