Nah, we have Apple products all over our office and they're great. They can be 7 years old and still be like new because they adopted the newest standards early. They also take a lot of abuse from idiots. My job would be hell if it where all PC's running Windows which is unstable hot garbage compared to OSX and Linux.
IBM saved a shitload of money by switching to Apple computers despite the initial high cost
The problem with this statement is that Apple products 7 years ago were made by the people who were in charge 7 years ago. We're in the era of removing features from iPhones to make more money on proprietary wireless buds or adapters if people don't want to switch, and making Mac Pros cylinders for style rather than practical purpose.

That's not new standards, that's greed and not thinking.
Great, more overpriced style-over-substance "devices" to clutter up the market.
I mean, that also means that we get folks hired at good salaries making style-over-substance devices so that's nice.
I bought an iPhone se and I like it way more than my galaxy s6
Anything that prevents Foxconn from getting more money can only be a good thing. Fuck Foxconn
He's clearly announcing it on their behalf to make it look like he's creating jobs.
It's weird, here we call the apple plants apple trees, actually.

From what I heard, Foxconn are the ones getting the money for the new plant in Wisconsin.

If it's not produced here don't even fucking look at me
And are way over priced, you are paying for the Apple logo.
i wouldn't mind the price if the products were assembled in america. i don't know how well foxconn treats its employees over in china.
its like with guitars, ones from china are cheap as dirt and their build quality is sub par, but i'm happy to pay the premium price for one made in a fender workshop from japan or mexico for the better build quality and to support fair work conditions for people working at the factories.

They have nets to prevent their employees jumping off the factories and killing themselves.

IIRC, according to a documentary about the plant, their employees also live in the factory. They're pretty much not allowed to leave, to the point that the factory even has special "meeting places" where you can spend time with your loved ones/significant other for a duration.

so it's a prison then
so it's a prison then
I suppose it is, in a sense. Technically they can quit their jobs any time they want to (I think), but considering the job market over-seas it's no wonder many of them end up attempting suicide instead.

like dogshit
Well obviously they're overpriced. However, they still produce nice hardware- their laptops specifically. I've got a 2013 mbp retina and it's still running beautifully, and hasn't wobbled apart. Can't say the same for any other laptop I've purchased from any other manufacturer.
Apple products, especially their laptops, are designed to fail. And if for some reason they dont fail, they will quickly become obsolete.
Take a look at Louis Rossmann's youtube channel where he almost exclusively repairs Apple Laptops. It really gives you an insight on how poorly engineered their products are.
just like samsung and a hundred other branded products.
People like them and buy them regardless.
The only new smartphones that are really really superduper good value for a small amount of money are basically Chinese phones and most people automatically think they'll be shit because they're chinese branded.
Which is why I have one of those. And you know what? It IS good value.

I owned an apple laptop once.
CPU failed, Battery failed twice, monitor died, and two other fatal issues.
Over half a grand to fix.
Don't buy apple, please.
I also used to own a macbook, but this was before they went with the unibody scheme. It broke apart within a year of use as a student and upgrading it from 10.4 to 10.5 to 10.6 brought it to a crawl.
Though, as far as the US factories go -- wouldn't this be something for Apple's PR to announce?
