my instead of googling about my problems i can just think about them and i'll be taken right to stackexchange with my thoughts
BRAIN CONTROLLED VR GAMES
If you can figure out a way to use it in conjunction with something that stimulates the inner ear that would be amazing for VR. They'd have to figure out a way to make it work so you can move separately to how you'd movie in real life, you don't want it to cancel your limbs and control the VR character instead, you could get stuck and die.
BRAIN CONTROLLED VR GAMES
SAO? :weeb: That would actually be pretty scary though... Imagine dieing irl because you died in-game. Although realistically speaking the headset or w/e probably would not pass safety inspection if it were able to fry the brain. A shit load of computing power, maybe even quantum computers, would probably also be needed to do all that signal processing, but that stuff is not that far at all either.
As long as It doesn't turn people into fucking Robo-brains? Sure, I'm up for keeping an eye on this.
Amadeus, huh? I approve of this.
Amadeus, huh? I approve of this.
Do you think Elon Musk listens to Mozart?
Elon Musk's [del]Neura[/del]InfoLink
SAO didn't invent the concept of brain-controlled VR games
I figured. Was just the first thing that came to mind since I watched it just recently.
how long until i can inject my brain into my favorite anime
I figured. Was just the first thing that came to mind since I watched it just recently.
Actually reminds me that Accelerated World vs. Sword Art Online released on the Vita in Japan recently. If the kids growing up these days have taken these sci-fi shows as an influence into the future of science non-fiction, I'll be damned
Imagine being able to store your thoughts and memories on an actual drive. Never forget any small detail ever again
make money now to ensure that you're not a mind controlled peasant in the future; the day we have a full picture of neuroscience and can really do anything to a brain is the day any semblance of free will goes to die. that said, if we're just a big old happy human hivemind that can accomplish anything, would it really be a bad thing? i mean, what's stopping governments from putting nanobots in the water that really do influence your thoughts if they can.
I mean, I see how this could be possible, but a lot of Musk's ventures are absurd because of the level of danger involved. Like Hyperloop.
I mean, I see how this could be possible, but a lot of Musk's ventures are absurd because of the level of danger involved. Like Hyperloop.
Everything is dangerous until you start working on it. That is the only way to discover and solve the problems with it.
Can you imagine how helpful this would be? Just jacking yourself into a supercomputer and becoming a genius and solving insanely difficult stuff with ease. It'd suck jacking yourself off and becoming a normal monkey again.
most people have no problem jacking themselves off
Now we just need more trenchcoats and sunglasses.
Thanks to Elon Musk, we're getting one of the better parts of our increasingly Gibsonian cyberpunk future.
gotta love how all western intelligence services plus whoever manages to breach them will have a backdoor to your brain not to mention all the shit corporations could do with that power
black mirror wasn't even joking
yeah the elon method is to take cracks at the most wild shit he can come up with to varying degrees of success because why the hell not
Because the most wild ideas have led to the most common inventions we use
We need more people like Elon
I will remain cautiously sceptic about reaching those goals. Not going to go into details, but the challenge he's undertaking far surpasses his Mars colonisation project.
The beginning of Page Industries.
Once we can stop emps from fucking with it we should be good, though i prefer my current meatbag form.
Speak for yourself. My meat brain simply cannot handle calculus. Three times I took that class, THREE. I went to tutoring, I did flash cards, I studied by myself and with people in the later calc classes, and at no point on any test, quiz, final, or assignment of any kind did I ever score higher than a 65%. I mean I kinda had to re-evaluate my life choices, let my childhood dream die, and end up with a large debt to fund these repeated failures, so I wholeheartedly welcome the idea of scraping out the bits of my brain that are shite and putting shiny, fresh bits in place. I'm tired of working around my own mental limitations.

On top of that there are a bunch of ethical red tapes in the way as well as philosophical uncertainties. If we cannot even agree upon a definition of consciousness, how would we be able to upload it to a machine? In any case, I'm less excited about the target goal of this enterprise, and much more interested in what we will learn along the way.
Androids when?
I can't wait to tell my coworker on our garbage pickup route about my wife and daughter
