Pre-owned 1070s are going for $400+ on eBay my Lord
Meanwhile Reddit laughs at me for trying to sell my R9 380 for 165. Why can't I just get rid of the damn thing already?
If I buy Eth right now, someone is making money from selling their Eth, but when I sell it for 10x that amount in a couple years, I'll be making a net profit vs my initial buyin. The person who buys it from me could do the same.

The way i see it, only losers trade eth

I shorted ETH with 15k€ x5 leverage and got 1500€ out of it. You just have to be in the moment and short it when fuck up happens. (I shorted on Bancor ICO fail if you wonder)

Not to boast tho, I lost most of gains due to accidental long (syncing with kraken console, some shit problem), one day I woke up then with -20% long and that sucked hard.
Fyi, this is Ethereum mood right now (this is what people mine with GPUs right now):

If anyone is interested in playing crypto, it's hell.

It's hell for the rest of this summer. Once ETH either stabilizes and/or actually deals with the blockchain congestion and scaling issues AND once the BTC BIP148 hardfork situation finds a resolution, things should slowly stabilize and recover. I'm not hoping for much good until September. July and August will be a bloodbath.
Guys, you can expect cheap GPUs now, miners started to massively sell them I think.
dont expect them to last as long though
So I don't deal with cryptocurrency at all but I bought a 1060 6GB recently and holy shit. Checked the price today and it's literally 170% of what i bought it at.

Wow, I literally just sold my 1070 for 400 yesterday and got a 1080 for 385. What triggered the mass sell off?

the currency dropping in value -> no reason to mine
All these gpu's and I'm still stuck on a 660, such is the neet life.
You can always get a net profit when you're using University power
This fucking sucks, I wanted to build a new PC and now I can't buy a 1070 for 300-400 eur :(
Wonder how long this will last.

So long as the funny-money gold-rush is in effect is my guess.

Same here. Anyone know an alternative that doesn't cost a kidney?

Ethereum dumped hard in price because 4chan started spreading false rumors of Ethereums creator (Vitalik) death.
People already started selling their cards on local craigslist-like website. Most of them say "I bought a better card, used it to play games" :v: I even seen lot of 29 rx480 for 14k$.

Yeah, you just confirmed my information :D. Don't worry, honey badgers will be back.

I had to buy a 1060 6GB yesterday, and I was lucky to find one in stock anywhere that wasn't grossly over priced. Ended up finding one at Best Buy for $250, which I was fine with.
a big problem right now is people can raise millions on garbage tier scam ico's people need to get a grip and stop throwing money at nobodys

Brace yourself, regulations are coming.
Brace yourself, regulations are coming.
This is the very sad truth, I fear. The ICO gold rush + uncontrolled pump and dump groups attempting to play the fuck out of the market are just asking for global agencies to interfere. While cryptocurrencies shouldn't have come to a bubble yet, the unregulated chaos brought this on very early. Millions upon millions of dollars' worth of ETH has been yanked back and forth, stuffing tens of millions into ICO offering startups who have pretty much NOTHING to offer in terms of product or service yet.
Highly irrational market activity led to this. And it's not stopping yet. People will need to get their minds out of the clouds and realize crypto doesn't turn your 100$ into 1,000,000$ in a day of good daytrading. Scary part is, it very well CAN produce massive returns, but you'd need the guidance of Tzeentch to time the market that well. Or sheer dumb luck. Most people chug along slow enough and most people don't even "make it" because of their own lack of discipline, patience and resources.
It's crazy. The best funds in the world don't consistently beat the market every year, and even then they make around 10%. For a year. These are traditionally accepted "successful" numbers. The crypto market lets you make anywhere up to hundreds of percents of gains in a mere week. Or losses. Who knows. People have lost sight of what is realistic and what is absolutely unreal.
Like I said, forget about summer. Wait till September for a somewhat clear overview of where this ship is sailing. Worst case scenario, we're currently in that feared dead cat bounce and will continue to crash, followed by a couple years of stagnancy. And then things can start growing nicely perhaps. Don't think we'll be seeing April/May tier gains for a long time again.
Holy fuck, bought my RX 480 8GB for £219 on release, the 580 from the same vendor is £309
Bought a couple 480's to try mining recently, starting to think I should sell them while they still cost this much..
Man what the fuck.

They're never in stock for longer than 30 minutes and even when the website says they're in stock, the selling website says otherwise.
When is this shit going to stop so I can buy a good graphics card.
Sadly for cards, I think bitcoin has started to recover now and is on the way up again, so expect prices like this for some time.
Any chance game developers will see this and begin gearing games toward smaller cards like the 1050ti? Yeah that’s never going to happen
Honestly, nVidia and AMD need to come out with mining cards and handicap the rest of their line against mining. There’s a reason you can just go to the store and get a 1080 now, and it’s because of GDDR5X. GDDR5X memory is much worse for mining, and while I don’t know how HBM handles mining, I’m not seeing people jump out of walls to buy up used R9 Fury cards. The companies needs to actively make mining SKUs, not let the OEMs do it for them. Christ, if this keeps up, maybe they’ll find a way to get the PS4 and XB1 to do this stuff. If that happened and there was a shortage, there would sure as hell be a response due to outcry.

And then there are people with 1060’s for $300 and 1070’s for 400.
The place is great, but everyone with an nVidia card is retarded with pricing
