It's a single-player game with lootboxes? What the fuck
That's not a new concept, and it's not singleplayer-only
'05 Most Wanted will forever be my favourite
No way man Speeding around in underground 2 with neons strapped on the car to black Betty was the shit
I picked up NFS:PB and it's a damn shame about the "speed cards" and the microtransactions because I've been having a hell of a time playing it otherwise. But every time I finish a race it walls me off from the next one because my car isn't good enough, which of course, means that I have to grind or pay up.
No way man Speeding around in underground 2 with neons strapped on the car to black Betty was the shit
Close second. MW wins because it (re)introduced cops and that was the bees knees for me. Underground has a slightly more fun vehicle lineup. I really liked the 350z and the 3000GT, and curiously enough, the 350z's sound was pretty realistic.
remember, if you give publishers an inch, they'll take a mile
Looks like two golden poos weren't enough for EA.

It's a shame to hear. Carbon was my shit back then. Canyon races were hands down the funnest racing experiences I've had back when it came out. It's sad to see how things have become.
ghost is just the latest in a long list of developers that have been handed the franchise and told to do something with it. Most people don't really know who they are, since their only prior game is nfs 2015 and nobody liked that either. It is a lot different IMO than criterion where they had made a name for themselves prior with burnout, and then years later put out most wanted 2012.
I loved MW2012
'05 Most Wanted will forever be my favourite
Most Wanted was my favorite as a kid, but now that I'm more interested in proper racing I feel like it doesn't hold up. I had it, Underground 2 and Carbon installed just last month so I could re-visit them, and I felt like NFSU2 had the best handling by far despite being the oldest. MW and Carbon keep you on track too much, like tire grip is way stronger than it should be - plus, they outright removed the dyno/tuning options from Underground 2 - and the cop car physics haven't aged well at all
EA's doing what it does best. grabbing aall the cash. no matter the consequences. at this point it's safe to say, they will also fuck up any upcoming release until ... i dunno ... "something" happens. i will stick to Next Car Game: Wreckfest and 1nsane 2. oldies but goldies.
i will stick to Next Car Game: Wreckfest and 1nsane 2. oldies but goldies.
Wreckfest ? An oldie ? Dude this game came out on Steam (still on Early Access) in 2014. The game is fun but gosh the devs are taking advantage of the situation ; in 3 years we got something like 4 unfinished tracks and 3 vehicles... Never tried 1nsane 2 but the first one was pure gold. i've spent countless hours on it with mods.
i considered most people would look at Wreckfest as an oldie. i've been following the developement from the start and it feels like an eternity.
No way man Speeding around in underground 2 with neons strapped on the car to black Betty was the shit
Will agree that U2 was a blast, though I tended to...well, kinda hamstring myself in a way when playing it. I didn't spend money on neons, gaudy bodykits, and the like. I had a Civic that would pull 1.25G sustained in a corner and run an honest 180MPH, yet it looked almost stock. I could obliterate Skylines at will with that thing. Yet I couldn't finish the game without buying another car....poor Miata....and ricing it right to hell and back :v:. That car struggled to make it to the magazine shoots because I put absolutely nothing into its performance and only ever used it when I needed to do the photo ops to unlock the next portion of the city, after that, I switched back to my Civic. Nice thing about U2 VS NFS3/PorscheUnleashed, is that U2 is much MUCH easier to get running on modern computers.
I still think that microtransactions should stay in free2play games where they belong. The 60€ price should get me the full game. I haven't bought a paid free2play game yet and NfS definitely won't make me start doing so.

Not to mention active attempts to stifle modding.

It's goofy like a cop chase movie, like fast and furious, while U2 seems to be more down to earth.
There have got to be game developers left who want to create incredible experiences and tell great stories? I wouldn't be able to do it, you could create the 10/10 greatest game of all time but all that happens when you rape your masterpiece with LOOT BOXES / CONSUMER SPENDING OPPORTUNITIES / STAR CARDS is that you've ruined your creation. Do you remember 2007 TF2? When you could just play the game without being interrupted. "DO YOU WANT TO STOP HAVING FUN AND SPEND SOME MONEY?" Man, who decided that was acceptable? I haven't bought Shadow of War because of this shit, I won't buy anything with singleplayer lootboxes, I'll vote with my wallet on this. I am happy to buy a game, I am happy to buy expansion packs or DLC that I like the look of. I am not happy to pay for the pleasure of being advertised to from day one by the developers I've already paid.

Still remember those blade like spinning rims...
Mine was the starter Corsa iirc, and then the 350z, racing only the unmodded 3kgt. Still remember those blade like spinning rims...
I settled on the Civic because its handling most aligned with my driving style. I found it the easiest car to drive fast of all the cars in the game. I could brake late, throw it into the corner, then wail on the throttle to have the front end tug it out roughly where I wanted it to go. It'd oversteer juuuust enough to easily dive in but, being FWD, it wouldn't randomly fly off the track arse first when I nailed the throttle on exit. Of course, game physics meant things like torquesteer weren't an issue, so the end result was an absolute monster of a sleeper. Spent quite a bit of time fine tuning that thing, too. Brake bias, camber/caster, ECU fuel and spark curves, gear ratios, the works. I had that thing absolutely perfect. Nice, flat torque curve, gearing adjusted to match, it was sweet. Some of the most fun times I've ever had in a virtual race came from U2, and I love that U2 lets you get in there and directly adjust the various parameters of your car like that. No cards, no 'Level 2 suspension handles better in tight corners, 3 in sweepers', no bullshit. I kinda wish real life physics worked the same way. Might build a Civic hotrod in reality if they'd drive the way the one I had in U2 did.
Most Wanted was the last good NFS game

While it's obviously been the case for a while, I do miss the days when games could just be a completed product that I paid money for, and that was that. I don't want to spend my money on an already expensive product then have the shitty experience of constantly being told I need to pay more to get access to everything.
Woah I don't remember being that deep, but then again, I've never went into actual tuning.
t's not 'Assetto Corsa' levels of depth, but it's deep enough that you could probably get any car in the game to more or less suit your driving style and win every grip race it enters.
