Without Facebook we wouldn't have VR be where it is now, both hardware and software wise. They have only been good for VR as a whole.

You can argue that on the Rift side (I don't think Oculus would've been capable to put together the whole manufacturing pipeline if not for Facebook's capital), but Valve was gonna do what they did, so Facebook didn't do much there.

You're saying Facebook didn't do much for the VR gaming industry? Does pushing for mainstream interest with the success of GearVR and unmatched games funding not count?

Lets be honest though, if Microsoft, google, apple, Walmart, whatever the hell company bought them, they'd have done exactly the same. Advertise a cheaper headset for the mainstream market.
That's how business works. You push a product to as many as you can.

The only issue is how much that company fucks everything up by not getting the point.
the games funding and not screwing with Oculus as a company though is a pretty good thing to credit, and I'm glad they don't stick their fingers into everything.
I find it really sad that even in the early stages of VR we already have people divided into tribes, flinging shit at each other.
Things like exclusive software, fanboyism and other dumb shit like that DRM that was thankfully worked around quickly are going to be the death of the VR business before it even got properly started
Even without exclusives this awful fanboyism would exist
sadly it comes with the territory

You're trying to boil-down and strawman what I'm saying, if you would just re-read what you quoted it answers your question.

You're making the argument that Facebook games funding only benefits Facebook, but as I've pointed out their VR game development funding is purposefully also to great benefit for Vive owners.
