Nice if tribes? Will be a game again. Been a few whiles since I was even
noo give us tribes 2 2
The worst (best?) thing is, they're actually pretty good at riding fads. Paladins isn't half-bad for a hero shooter, and last I heard, Smite is a pretty entertaining MOBA. I'd love to see them condense that skill into a more refined, unique game like Tribes Ascend instead of going for the cash grabs, but this new project is the best compromise we're going to get. They can ride the hype train and inject classic Tribes gameplay into it at the same time - just hope they don't fuck up balance or microtransactions
They did a pretty good job with rebalancing T:A with the "out of the Blue" update and the patches that came after (merged the 9 classes into the classic 3, reworked/removed/added a lot of weapons and maps etc.), so at the very least they have a better idea on how to develop a Tribes game, and obviously they've got experience and learned over the last 4 years how to make games that can survive for more than a year (even if they do ride on fads, you gotta admit the games must be doing well enough to keep on wrestling a piece of the cake from dota2/league/overwatch).
Really they're model with each game is that you pay $15-30 to get all of the gameplay effecting content and some bonus shit. Works out fine for me imo. Two flops that bleed a lot of money. And they returned to tribes ascend later and began providing some updates. Really the worst thing was the lack of proper communication regarding tribes.
Global agenda only flopped due to mismanagement, it was a pretty awesome game until hirez turned it into a p2w money cow.
I remember what Hi-Rez did to T:A. It is a wound that will never heal.
Do we fight with baguettes? :D
Global agenda only flopped due to mismanagement, it was a pretty awesome game until hirez turned it into a p2w money cow.
Has anyone thought that the game didn't die because of the p2w but rather they made the game those changes after the fact in an attempt to get some extra money from it before they went down? It's the exact same thing that happened with Tribes, the same thing that has been done to a lot of other dying/dead games. I really can't understand what makes GA and Tribes such a special case for you people, this goes beyond just fans being sad their game got dropped. You simply don't see this kind of reactions elsewhere nor for other games/companies, it's pretty crazy tbh.

Because it's not the only reason hence mismanagement. You have to grind for an immense amount of time, whereas you can pay money and be instantly gratified. This killed any sort of progression and created a hostile environment for most new players as most people would be up against people with far superior items. Also with the faction battles and what not you'd have next to no chance getting anywhere because of dominating factions which are exclusive. This created another hostile part of the game dominated by elite players. And additionally there was poor support for game servers in various regions. Just oversight of what makes a game welcoming and fun, combined with cash cowing

The only thing I said is that this is not what killed the game, but something that came to be Because the game was dying (an attempt to grab some extra cash before the game went down). Also that did not answer the question I made (though I know no one will ever answer it and the mystery will forever live on).
