Really yours make noise? My OG XB1 console is dead silent. I have no idea it even runs for auto updates. It more or less just works.
I have the Forza special edition. It makes a loud 'vroom' on startup and shutdown.

Subscriptions really keep me from using either console, even tho I have a ps4. I can afford it but the practice pisses me off so much.
I mean, the OG one has a chime, but it doesn't for auto updates.
Mine made it when it auto updated. I turned off all the rest features and no longer have that issue, though it was annoying waking up from it.
There's still ridiculous issues that prevent me from ever touching a PlayStation, which include: 1. Not wanting to support mods 2. Not wanting to support cross-platform play 3. Forcing developers to say a game is ready to play when it's actually still installing stuff 4. Throttling the bandwidth of PS4s so that downloading stuff takes forever 5. Lack of quality control for online games 6. Forcing you to rebuy old games that you already have on other systems when Microsoft is pushing for backwards compatibility With all of that, I can't help but feel like I'm getting a shit deal, here.
Don't forget that your PS4 could get stuck in a boot loop or have it's hard drive fail if you give it so much as a stern glance from across the room. [editline]3rd November 2017[/editline] people are like 'i like consoles because they just go' meanwhile my ps4 has shit itself way more times than my pc ever could
I'm thinking of snagging a PS4 Slim over Black Friday, since it's going to be $200. Though, I'm juggling whether to get Persona 5 or Yakuza 0 first. Both look really good, but I'm kinda favoring P5 a little more.
Frankly, I'm too used to Steam being free to be okay with the idea of paying to play online. That seems insane to me. And $9.99 a month is pretty steep, to be real.

I upgraded my PS4 drive to a hybrid, and will eventually do something about my 1TB X1. They are 5400 drives, very slow. I have never had the boot loop issue on mine.
I love using the PS4 and was glad to have pre-ordered it, but it's rather apparent that Sony have their head up their ass when it comes to the hardware aspect. Eg the PS Move controllers for PSVR would have been absolute killer if they had thumbsticks, but Sony were too dumb to implement them. The PSVR tracking with PS Camera is actually quite decent - but only within a certain range. Sony should have been aware that most people have their PS4 in a living room, but they restricted the range tracking of the PSVR headset to within only two metres of the camera - when most people sit further than two metres away from their TV (where you would put the camera). Then there's the whole fiasco of the PSVR processor unit on the original PSVR which wouldn't let 4K+HDR pass through it, so if you had a PS4 Pro, you were forced to choose between 4K+HDR on the TV and no PSVR, or being able to use PSVR at the expense of only 1080p on the TV. That is unless you had a complicated mess of cables and a HDMI switcher like I have.
