I was instantly skeptical of the news article as well, but really mostly because there's a very similar case over here regarding adoption how some kids didn't go to their grandparents after they were taken from their alcoholic parents, amd the way conservative media spun it as something awful kind of echoed this article. Kids are a common propaganda target for the right.
