Destiny 2 PC players report bans just for running common tools like discord

At least Blizzard seems to give a refund if you ask for one.
Sad when most reaction and help is from Blizzard and not from Bungie.
After reading through tons of threads on reddit it doesn't appear to be a big surprise though, Bungie was always like that, keeping quite on pressing matters.
I played today for 11 hours straight with no bans, I was running discord, steam, teamspeak, nvidia shadowplay, corsair utility engine, and EVGA precision

With that luck, better be playing the lottery than destiny

is that site run by the fucking trump administration?
that's even more depressing than the bans tbh
I wouldn't be surprised if this clusterfuck triggers a class action lawsuit.
I like how this triggers a ban but they apparently have nothing stopping people from spoofing controllers in order to have auto aim with their mice

Black ops 3 had the same problem iirc, people would connect their controller to their computer then set it aside to play with m+kb
works on my machine

I believe I replied to this in the "In The News" thread.
XIM's are terrible, it's not like plugging in a keyboard and mouse and off you go! There's so much input delay, it's not precise at all, and if you think controller aim assist helps with a mouse, you are extremely wrong, it actually fucks up your aiming so bad because it aim assists NEAR the enemy as well, so your sensitivity grinds to a hault and you have to keep flicking to hit the target.

They're not talking about XIM's, they're talking about turning on a controller in the pc version to get autoaim, then setting it aside to just play normally with mouse and keyboard.
Depends on how the aim assist is implemented tbh.
Bungie has a history of bullet magnetism for example, which might be present in destiny 2 for controllers.
I'm really tempted to record myself testing this. But at the same time I don't want to be locked out since I got my key from gmg and probably wouldn't get a refund if it worked.
Considering how easily bans are being handed out this is basically the same thing as selling someone a car, and then taking it away without refund because they adjusted the mirror to the left slightly
Punkbuster detecting itself and banning based on that was the worst possible anti-cheat ever... and this somehow ends up being worse than that
Punkbuster busts itself? Punkbusted? Punkbuster got punked? :v: That's pretty bad. I did some googling but didn't find much about it though. Might have been back before these types of things were documented that much, as I remember battlefield 2 using PunkBuster.

Punkbuster has done it a few times, the devs forget to add its own hash to its database and because of how it works, its very much like a cheat so it detected its self and banned its self.
Developer oversight to the max, be surprised how common it is.

Is that how it worked? I thought it was by plugging in a XIM and fooling your PC that your mouse and keyboard is going through XINPUT.

That's for emulated games/for controllers that have no firmware on the PC. Both the Xbone and PS4 controllers now work natively on PC.
I'm on win10 with discord overlay, shadowplay, and the latest windows update and fuck if I know what the game bar is let alone if it's on by default, not banned ama
really curious what's causing it and if they're going to actually detect and explain what's tripping it out, let alone open fucking ban appeals
I guess I should be glad that the Steam overlay doesn't work, even though I was pretty annoyed last night when I had to tab out for messages.
Probably saved my ass, because that's the only overlay or monitoring program I have. Shadowplay doesn't launch at startup and I only use Discord in web browsers.
Also it super seems like the delay for the PC version was pointless because all of the things that people suggested to fix haven’t remotely changed

I think the PC delay was more about updating and unlocking all the console spec bullshit, maybe with a sprinkling of sony wanting to lock down console sale superiority
cutscenes are still hard locked to 30fps, and I've noticed a single thing that HAS to have been framerate-based, rabbits in the EDZ run 200mph at like 10fps so you just see a weird slideshow skitter across the road
The fact that the built-in gamebar of windows triggers this really makes me wonder if the system was even tested at all.
The game also doesn’t have public text chat, making social spaces pointless, no proper LFG, a feature that has been present in MMOs for matchmaking over quadruple the group sizes for over a decade.
That and the public events are designed around you finding secret functions that make it provide better loot... and you’re just supposed to assume that everyone knows how to trigger the special events before they complete the mission. All without a way to talk to others.
Like oh my fucking god are these people actually this fucking stupid that they didn’t even think about this stuff?
Knowing my luck, I'll get caught in this like I got caught in the GTAV banwave bullshit for money I was given but didn't want.

What's even more baffiling is their reasoning behind not having public chat, basically they didn't want to foster an atmosphere of toxcicity and greifing so the obvious solution was to not have any chat functions.

having played destiny 1 on xbox I can almost empathize with them expecting mapchat to be nothing but 10 year olds spamming insults at each other
[editline]e[/editline]
if overwatch is at usually liviable in a 100% competitive environment, destiny would be fine at the crucible. Literally anywhere else it's a cooperative mmo environment and it's a feature that actually makes the experience better. Like how obnoxious is it that if some dude runs to resurrect you in a group event you can't say thanks, then halfway through the group event it says "4 of 5 guardians doing X" and there's two fuckers just running around outside of the circle and you can't say "get in the circle or we lose, nerds"

If years of playing games taught me anything it's that text chat was a mistake and the guy who decided it has to be a feature in multiplayer games should be executed for crimes against human decency.
I regret getting a physical copy of the game to save a few bucks. Now I can't refund it.
Plus the boxed copy of the game just has a FUCKING DISC SHAPED PIECE OF PAPER WITH A CODE PRINTED ON IT.

I'd be fine with it being in crucible or open areas only, it'd just be a clusterfuck in the Farm and other social spaces anyway.
The "NOT SO FAST!" should just say "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!" because of how silly it is in the first place.
