• Busted: Man plants camera in elderly mother's nursing home, captures brutal abuse by caregivers

This thing happens quite alot more than you would think. The workers are on very little pay, and generally the people they care for are unpleasant and rude to them, and eventually they snap. This case was extreme, but at least once a year someone releases footage of a load of mental care home people being abused by their carers, and elderly people will get it too. I'm not saying it is right, but I can sort of see why this happens. You give a person a low paid, stressful job in which they have to take verbal and in some cases physical abuse from their patients and look happy while they are doing it. Eventually they are going to snap. With these guys it sounds like they were so far gone that they were brutal to everyone, regardless of how nasty they are. I know recently in the UK there was 'footage' released of a mental patient having stuff thrown at her while she's screaming her head off in the corner. I'm sure I heard somewhere that she would bite the staff and call them names constantly and eventually one just flipped.
Thats just horrible :ohdear: Grandmother of 25 and no one will take her into their house?
A grandmother like that is just too much work for a real family, it's terrible, and I'm sure it was very hard for the people who decided to put her in the home, but they had to do it.
help i've fallen and i cannot get up
All I can say is, Why?
I never planned on sending my parents to a nursing home, so this just reinforced my decision
I work at nursing homes as a certified nurse assistant and these people give the profession a bad name. Something must be totally wrong with those people too; who would hurt the elderly? Seriously now. That's fucked up. I do agree though. Some cases, the folks don't even have visitors for months even years. Coming from an Asian backround where we honor our elderly, something isn't right about people leaving their parents to rot. I feel really sad most of the time when I work the job. :smith:
what the actual fuck, how do you even manage to have a stable mind while being void of any human compassion.
We have a very similar case as well
AN elderly woman resident at an established nursing home in Singapore was shown being mistreated by staff there. A video clip, apparently captured by a hidden camera inside the room where the elderly woman stayed, showed an elderly woman seated naked in a chair in plain view of the staff and other residents, and with the fan on at full blast. The video was first shown on national television yesterday. Footage also showed the woman being picked up by two employees of the home, and then flung unceremoniously onto a bed that she was seated next to. The Straits Times reported that the incident took place at the Nightingale Nursing Home in Braddell Road. The report also said that she had been a resident there for four years. The shocking clip was submitted to the Ministry of Health (MOH), which later told the home stop taking in new patients on April 12 until further notice. Since then, Nightingale Group, which runs three nursing homes, said that the staff members involved have been disciplined. Its spokesman also added that measures which included scheduling more ward rounds and checks on the delivery of patient care standard by management and senior staff have been implemented. Nightingale Group noted that what had taken place was an isolated case. But MOH criticised this incident, noting that "this should not have happened", and that there were "significant lapses in the care standards provided to the patient in question". An MOH spokesperson also said a patient's dignity and respect must be upheld at all times. It said that it would watch the nursing home closely, and supervise them on how to improve their patient care. Meanwhile, the victim's son who was interviewed on television said that the family have moved their mother to another nursing home. A Facebook page has been created to highlight the abuse and to protest against this incident.
Source: http://health.asiaone.com/Health/News/Story/A1Story20110610-283389.html
This shit happens everywhere. My grandmas old nursing home was closed down after a patient's family walked in on a worker raping their grandma, later turns out that there was a huge amount of abuse going on with nearly all the people working there.
Thats just horrible :ohdear: Grandmother of 25 and no one will take her into their house?
I had to deal with a grandmother that was ill, we put her in to a hospital/home because we don't have the room and knowledge to take care of her. People don't throw their grandparents in homes because they want too. It is because most of the time they have the medical know-how and resources to properly take care of their loved ones.
This shit happens everywhere. My grandmas old nursing home was closed down after a patient's family walked in on a worker raping their grandma--
Wait, what?! :wtc:
I just hope that I am still strong when I reach old age, so I can actually crack some skulls at 80 or at least 60. If the future's coming as fast as it is now, i'd probably be spending my pension on Bio-Mech enhancements to become some kind of epic cyber-grandpa (more likely a cyber great-uncle, though). One can only hope that the elderly of the next generation have the option of undergoing augmentation to become even more powerful than ever before. Cyber-Grans aside, this is disgusting treatment of the elderly, and the people who abused them should stand in the corner, douse themselves in petrol, and staty absolutely still and silent as they burn to ashes.
Caraballo pleaded not guilty.
Are you fucking kidding me?! You were captured on video and we even have the picture here on fucking Facepunch and you're saying you're not guilty?!

Once he seems someone abusing a grandma, he'll beat the living shit out of them. I know it sounds extreme, but some people just need their knees popped. EDIT: You know whats sad? They'd punish someone for doing this, over abusing the elderly.
-snip, bad reading-
So, of the three that were seen beating up elderly people, two were fired, and one was disciplined, whatever that may be? So... where's the police? Where's the jail-time for brutal assault? These people should get at least 15 years of prison.
Jails are too shitty these days, only making matters far worse. They'd come out already drugged up and fucked in the head even worse.
This is what's coming to all of us, fellas... :ohdear:
Not unless you raise children who actually are willing to take care of you in old age.
What the fuck, who goes and sucker punches a 78 year old woman. That's just sick.
wasnt a punch, nowhere near an injuring punch
wasnt a punch, nowhere near an injuring punch
I don't think you know how easily people that age can get injured.
I expected this to be from England. We seem to have a lot of issues with things like this over here.
Next they're buying GMod, the ones who didn't get caught that is.
Next they're buying GMod, the ones who didn't get caught that is.
what?
what?
"Treated like Ragdolls".
If I won't be able to take care of myself and my kids won't be willing to take care, I will hang myself. I will hang myself in their living room when they will be on vacation, so they will find my rotten cadever when they return. With little writing on little card underneath me. "I gave you your life, and dedicated almost two decades of mine for raising you, and now you refuse to keep mine." "*PS. Sparky suffered a lot." "**PS. If my shanking hands and bad memory didn't fuck the bomb construction, your house will blow up 2 minutes after you open room with my body"
"Treated like Ragdolls".
:frog:
I don't feel so bad about thinking that I'll die before I hit 60 due to clogged arteries anymore.
I don't think you know how easily people that age can get injured.
You are right, I don't. She didn't get injured from it though. What a hard core grandma.
yeah it's pretty sickening that americans warehouse old people
I don't know what's worse: THAT, or people who make their elders feel so "in the way" that they CHOOSE to go to these places.
This makes me sick. I'm planting a camera in my grandparent's nursing home's room. :(
Do we care for the elders just because we actually do care? Or do we just want somebody to care for us when we need it? [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] :raise:
