Several Classic Maps Removed from Counter-Strike: GO| Vertigo, Aztec, Assault, and Militia
CS:GO is just CS:S with microtransactions and less content. It's garbage. Ignore it.
These maps being removed are proof positive of that.
This guy certainly haven't played the game at all. Only 19 hrs and he finds the confidence to criticize.
This is the dumbest fucking shit. What's the matter Valve? Your lootboxes aren't keeping the lights on so you have to wipe half the maps to lighten the server load. Fuck right off.
Ah yes the server load where you have to queue for 2 days to find a match in aztec/vertigo/dust.
I know that we are a forum or something but why are people posting just because they are able to post? How about taking a small look at the games subreddit or something?
They could make up however if they would listen to the players for once and add a workshop map into the matchmaking pool for a week and see how it gets recieved and after the week add a different one, but naahhhhh.
I just noticed that Short Train isn't in the game files anymore. They must have removed it as well.
You can always redownload them from the workshop.
Thanks for answering a question I didn't even ask, very helpful.
Lots of assumptions in here. Guess since I've only played 20 hours on my main account I'm an idiot and don't know what CS:GO is.
I'll be sure to share my total playtime and ask you guys for permission before I criticize a shit gambling-ridden microtransaction-infested dead-3rd-party-gamemode-community version of what was once a good game.
Ah yes the notorious hack video poster / booster in the csgo thread crying about his practices being destroyed. No one cares really
Stop being so rude? Ever heard of something called "opinions"? I have quite the selection here that many don't agree with, but I do.

Dude you can't just openly joke about your playtime and get away with it. You don't play it so what is with the aggressive stance on the game? Microtransactions are in every game and CSGO's microtransactions are minimal compared to other games you played before, clearly they arent the problem here. 3rd party community servers are still available on CSS and people play it from time to time, not to mention the PUBG mod servers and a bunch of others in CSGO, so thats not it. Gambling has been a problem yes, but Valve is constantly blocking out betting sites' steam bots, and they cracked down on betting too. I just hate it when someone writes their OPINIONS and deems them untouchable just because.

My god the irony
So you agree with the fact that they remove maps from the game entirely? You can't even play them with bots or in casual. Literally the opposite of free DLC.
Haha opinions dude im just gonna totally not talk about the workshop at all lmao

Assault was a grueling and intense map in my opinion. But I had more fun with it on CSS than I did on csgo
Haha opinions dude im just gonna totally not talk about the workshop at all lmao
That doesn't make it any better
I thought I had bleach in my eyes after I tried playing on Assault, the colours are really washed out compared to CSS, which is why I never played that map
Even worse that my monitor doesn't support saturation/digital vibrance

All of the early CSGO maps have horrible color correction that washes everything out.

Since they removed the map from competitive matchmaking from unpopularity and people exploiting the low player count to rank boost. There's no reason to keep the map to bloat file size, but they did make workshop versions of those removed maps so if you really want to play those maps you can do that.

Nobody is playing the maps that were removed, you're probably just biased from nostalgia for those old maps. It's unpopular enough to warrant removal, and you can still play them via workshop. There's no reason to keep these maps if they aren't going to be allowed for comp MM anyway.
A lot of people pretty much see this as an opportunity to beg Valve to add de_season, de_tuscan and de_santorini even.
By the way to anyone wondering about cs_assault, that map is still in the game but is in the casual hostage group.

If you've only played 20 hours then you clearly haven't had anywhere near enough time to judge the game and you're talking down to people with thousands of hours. Which person do you think has a good perspective out of those two? 3rd party game modes exist, gambling is at this point an issue of governmental regulations rather than valve since they cracked down on skin betting and the microtransactions don't affect the actual game at all, which is how it should be. That's without mentioning that in the end competitive play is kinda the actual point of counter strike and it does that really well now. These maps got in the way of proper competitive play because they had their own playerbase, largely boosters and cheaters, which fucks up the ranking system.

Season has rotation issues that I think stop it from being competitively viable but Santorini was not given enough of a chance to succeed. I think it's amazing.

I remember that being a huge complaint.
Who cares
Its all about cs_compound

Yes it was; they listened and changed the models to be a little bit more colorful. Old d2 vs new d2, inferno, nuke etc. Today they changed the rank signs, and they will be updating the UI soon, maybe a long time later but it'll arrive someday.

the Panorama UI is scheduled to arrive by the end of this year.
...so by the end of 2018.
Aww man i loved assault to be fair it was ONLY fun in t side but still i loved it
I had no idea Assault was one of the less played maps; I loved that map personally and found it to be one of my favorites.
EDIT: Good bloody riddance to Vertigo though.
Love or hate the maps, it's a shame they've been removed.

From what i understand, the maps were removed for being old and outdated, said versions put up on the workshop if you wanted them back, and will likely be redone, touched up, and added back in again later like they did with other maps.
So what exactly is your problem?

Assault was actually one of the more popular hostage maps I think but that was before agency which became one of the most popular operation map every time it was introduced IIRC.
Assault is still in the game too.
I just read the blogpost and entered the game and I only see Agency out of those.

I see 11 maps in total to choose from in Competitive, I don't remember it ever being so small a choice.
I didn't explain properly but they are not available in the competitive matchmaking, if you go search for casual games you will see more maps like the ones I mentioned.

He overreacted like this when Artifact was announced too so he's just doing the same thing here over a game he doesn't play

It fragments the community. Now people have to download a map from the workshop just to get content that was present in CS:S. There will be other 3rd party versions of the map to add headache to that; when before all you had to do was join a server that had the maps in rotation and you were good to go.
They also removed particles and textures present in those maps which harms a bunch of 3rd party unrelated maps that used those assets.
It's all around bad-practice, and I (used to) expect Valve to do better. Remove the maps from the rotation entirely and leave the files in there if you're planning on revamping them. In this case it feels like the same thing that happened to TF2 is happening here. The competitive aspect of the game is harming the actual game.

The competitive aspect has always been the important thing for CS:GO, there's no harming the actual game because the portion of the community that played those maps is so small that it was seriously rare to get into a game both competitive and casual on those maps.
You're comparing it to TF2 which was mainly a casual game that was fucked up by Valve half assing a matchmaking system with no real ELO and completely screwing up casual matchmaking. Not to mention not fixing anything there for over a year.
Valve actually cares about CS:GO to make proper updates unlike TF2 sadly

3rd party maps would get fucked by things like the dust redesign too, though at least in that case there's new content for mappers to use until the next time it updates.
I really do wish they'd keep content around so packing everything into the .bsp isn't necessary just to make sure your map still works a few years down the line.
Alright, I don't know why all of you are so hurt about the fact that you can't play ranked matchmaking in some of the most broken, unbalanced and outdated maps anymore (even though more than half of this thread doesn't even play CS:GO), but people who would boost/cheat in those maps to get a higher rank was a serious problem and I am glad it's gone. Sorry that those terrible maps that had 10+ minute queue time and was infested with boosters, griefers and cheaters were removed, but if you think that the only way to have fun in this game was to play on half-assed maps while abusing all the weird shit that was in them then I am afraid you will have to find something else to do.
Also with comments like these I am indeed very sure that no one here has a single fucking clue about how this game works:

I am very sorry that you can't grief and hack on ranked MM Assault/Militia games anymore. My condolences.
I'm sorry that I want to have fun rather than being a tryhard, I guess that makes me a griefer/hacker. After all, the Match Making experience is amazing and not at all trash compared to the alternatives when it comes to actually playing competitively.
