Old School Runescape is Rioting over in-game Gay Pride Event - Sensationalist Headlines

Damn if there was one thing to convince me to play runescape it's GOTTA be this gay ass scarf. Just kidding but it's still a cool scarf.

It just feels like people specifically don't want to see LGBT stuff in their safe space and are using politics as some cover. But to me it just looks like dogwhistle discussions where you're really hoping people also have bigoted views and will know what you really mean. It's dumb the community said no and the mod did it anyway when runescape does seem to stick to updates only being what is voted on. But i really feel like the people that are seriously offended about having to see rainbow items equipped on other players are not really mad about how it was implemented.

Absolutely no potential differing opinions from the author should be allowed to be presented on screen. A princess gets kidnapped? Bad, developer clearly only thinks princesses are good for kidnapping. A princess takes up the sword? Bad, developer clearly thinks the monarchy should go around killing people. Games should only be bright lights and barely distinguishable blobs of color and raw visceral gameplay so you can play them without ever having to make a judgement about text you're presented with. Not to mention: encouraging people to support specific wildlife conservation organizations = not a political view, somehow. Establishing a particular religion's holy day in your game = not a political view, somehow. Gay people exist and that's okay, here's a scarf = the developers literally shoving their political viewpoint down your fucking throat
