Hopefully they share Vader's policy of incompetent fuckups. :v:
Tbh I don't get this mindset.
A lot of free to play games like warthunder and world of tanks ruin themselves by making their f2p models awful. Likewise, I don't inherently mind if a paid game has microtransactions either. In both cases it entirely depends on implementation.
When it's paid for already it feels like double dipping alot more, when it's f2p that's the whole conceit of the business model to begin with.
why are people rushing to believe that fucking Disney of all people is innocent in all of this
it was probably a big part their idea in the first place
Disney innocent? Not at all, but while Disney is image-focused and is intelligent enough to respond when people get angry in large numbers, Electronic Arts doesn't seem to care. I have little doubt that if Battlefront II had bombed as much as the 50% dip in physical UK sales would seem to indicate and Disney said nothing, that rather than cleaning up the situation and implementing these (temporary) changes, that EA would simply let the game die and write off their losses, lay off bunch of DICE employees, and work on how they can make the system more aggressive for the next round while reducing content further because, hey, they just laid off a bunch of developers and the team is smaller.
Just give us something good holy shit. It's been so long since Kotor and Jedi outcast/academy
They should just go back to how it used to be done with LucasArts. It seems that back then they licensed it out on a per game basis and also made games in-house.

Double dipping is fine if it's made worth it. At least, it's much better than jamming an entire hamburger in as the first dip.
I don't get why people see Disney as saints who only want our best as of late. They aren't blind and stupid, they were frothing just as much as EA at the thought of the potential lootbox profits. All they are doing now is try and save their own reputation.

By subbing it out, theres pretty much no liability and risk. They can stool make oodles on a game they contract out and if they game fails they don't really suffer since people will get mad at the studio instead of the brand.
Lucasarts is dead and Disney won't bring them back either.
Star Wars: the Call of Duty
And it'd be the same as all the other COD games with a Star Wars aesthetic bleagh no thanks.
Implying that would be a bad thing.
