are there any words that actually start with a sharp s?
It's intended for stuff in allcaps not to look ugly when it has an ß in it.
Now where the hell do they want to put that on our keyboard?
Lower case ß is currently right of 0, shift+ß is ?, so they can't put it there without moving ?.
"Eszett" is also a word for it. Pretty sure most Germans call it that anyways, personally I dont know anybody who uses "scharfes S" (sharp S).
I've never heard anyone call it Eszett, only scharfes S. I'm from Austria though.
The 1996 German orthography reform was a mistake, it changed words like Kongreßstraße into Kongressstraße. I'm all for capital ẞ and bringing back more ß in general.
Essstörung has far too many s es for the length of the word. Bring it back!
Side note: what is the plural of "s" in English

Best part (just in case someone isn't aware of this):
[sp]That's legitimate German slang for extremely thin and/or disgusting beverages, usually beer. It's (now?) written with "ss" though.[/sp]
