To note is that TST is a bit of a... weird organisation. They're less of a religion or a philosophy and more of a political activist group using religious imagery. Weirdly enough, they started out as theistic "Satanists" (aka people who genuinely believe in an anthropomorphized "devil") but later their mission statement changed to be atheistic. They like to deny this, but a quick web-archive search on their site unravels a lot of that. This is why I don't think the comparison with the Church of Satan is very viable, because the CoS doesn't have a political agenda, nor is it in any way an activist group. It's just strictly a philosophy, and one that promotes keeping to yourself. It's like the polar opposite of TST. That and the CoS is an actual, recognised religion and has been since 1966 where as TST just kind of spawned out of nowhere less than 8 years ago ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I swear I read somewhere that the satanic religions are actually in some parts more morally correct and more in line with current world beliefs than the "good non-evil" religions :v:
LaVeyan Satanism is, IIRC, mostly focused on self-ego and the pursuit of the self rather than "HAIL BAPHOMET CH'TULU LILITH LUCIFER BEELZEBUB BLOOD TO YOU ALL!!!"
Yes, self-improvement, self-service, respect, peace, humility, and liberty + freedom for all are essentially the biggest points of LaVeyan Satanism. :)
