EA Is Now Ironically Stuck With $60 'Battlefront 2' And No Good Way To Re-Monetize It
I think the idea is if this game does poorly, Star Wars Battlefront as a series just doesn't come back. There have been cases before where 1 installment of a series didn't do well and you won't see anything but HD remakes from there on out, if you even get those.
I fail to see an issue if we do get HD remakes.
That's pretty much all people wanted to begin with, I think.
Still waiting for a re-release of the original battlefront 2 for consoles.

Pretty sure the system requirements are abysmal by today's standards since it's over 10 years old.
Even the cheapest brand new x86 potato laptop can run it

They may be but Copies for both PS2 and Xbox are ridiculously high priced so a console players only option is to pay out something like $80 or hope god their lucky and finding it in a second hand shop/garage sale.
They definitely would have made money had it just launched as a $60 title. It's a Star Wars game. It's going to make money. The problem is now that the bad press is out it probably isn't selling as many copies as it should have. It's anecdotal but you can see pictures of brick-and-mortar stores with the Star Wars Battlefront II section fully stocked even after Black Friday.
There have been rumors of store employees taking pictures of BFII alone while they are stocking the shelves, giving the image of them not being sold but in reality the store is just filling up before opening.
I take those images with a grain of salt. No matter how much grief EA has caused, I am certain that everywhere there are some people still buying the game, either because they don't care (like one friend of mine) or they are (despite everything) just completely unaware of what's going on.

Doubt they'd bother re-release for consoles considered to be dead in their eyes, and too much work to convert it for modern consoles.
PC master race, etc, etc.
I'm pretty sure there's been many years where FIFA alone brings in more money than all other EA titles combined. EA isn't in any real financial risk any time soon.
That makes the whole lootbox issue all the more galling
EA being bit in the ass by its greed should feel good, yet my fear for DICE getting the boot because of this mess is stronger

They don't just yolo kill companies and DICE is reliable as hell and responsible for the technology behind all of their games now. They're fine.

I wonder if DICE is sick of making Battlefield game for almost 15 years straight

Uhh, yeah they do. Killing game studios at the drop of a hat is literally what EA is infamous for.
