They're too busy working on The Emoji Movie 2 to care.
So they illegally hack services but also offer paid legal security audits? How do they not get indicted for unauthorised access?
the group is saudi and operates anonymously. I think the saudi police just don't care enough to look into it, or possibly they just don't have any specific laws against it
God damn, Sony never fucking learns do they. Having account breaches is unacceptable.
Sometimes the occasional breach is still less costly than improving your security, and afaik that's Sony's stance on this. Which is still unacceptable but makes sense from a pure business point of view.
No dice for us Europeans, unfortunately.
I used this 3-4 years ago, i can't remember any bad experiences about it (maybe the fees, i don't remember what they were exactly though). https://www.entropay.com/
Some security groups test how vulnerable their target company is by going undercover. They sometimes even record themselves with hidden cameras to show to the company how they breached their facilities. My guess, these hackers wanted to demonstrate what they could breach with the information they had access to.
... Except they were hired by the company to do that. Once again, why would they do it on their own and risk legal action if they were a legitimate security group?

Once again, why would they do it on their own and risk legal action if they were a legitimate security group?
You make it sound like they're based in the U.S. where legal action is a cough away at any given time. This shit:
the group is saudi and operates anonymously
is probably a big factor. I'd be surprised if Sony attempted legal action here, and they probably would be too. I'm sure they just figure "look we hacked a big-name corporation, you should hire us for a security audit" makes a good advertisement.
so what's Sony's say on this?

Its free advertisement
