I've had co-workers abused and assaulted, physically threatened and intimidated due to problems we have at our McDonalds. Fucking grown adults abusing the 16 year old girl in order taking because we finished a certain deal and they're fucked up and don't believe it. I've had managers (who often step in asap when customers get rowdy) who've had drinks, food, and even entire fucking registers thrown at them by pissed off customers. Screaming and fucking yelling because you need a wait a fucking minute while we change some syrup, or make more product. I do not understand why these people think it is acceptable to fuck with us simply because we're maccas employees. I've even had customers (several times) smash the fucking glass at the front of the store because they can't get inside to order food (we close the front area at 11 and switch to drive through only). They really show what kind of fucking trash pieces of fucking shit they are. I fucking hate working fast food so fucking much. People treat you like you're less than human, like you're some fucking robot dedicated to your service. Even worse are the fucks that complain about how slow we are when there's fuckall staff and we're all busting our guts trying to get shit out and some self important fuckwit decides to pull me away from my work to bitch for a few minutes about how much time it fucking takes, not realizing that he's directly delaying me from getting his food. I pointed this out to a customer once as he was yelling at me and i guess he didn't like being made to look like a complete fucking braindead scumfuck moron infront of his friends, cause he thought he'd be cool and yell at a fucking maccas employee. I don't want to be treated like royalty, i just want to be treated like i'm a fucking person.
I'm sorry you've had to deal with this , I've never had this problem ever working in any restaurant environment
It's a crap shoot if the ice cream/shake machine works at the McDonald's near me. Though I thankfully haven't seen anyone get violent over it. And while I've never worked in fast food I'm well aware it's lousy and as such I'm usually borderline obnoxiously pleasant when dealing with the staff.
Need to hire this fella as a consultant.
On that note, I had the misfortune of accidentally choosing an airBnB in what appeared to be a rough neighborhood and the fast food joint had like this massive plexiglass like wall between me and the servers. I got my stuff through a small little slot like some sort of criminal. :frown: Shit's actually scary as fuck if you're not used to it.
The gas station across from my unit's armory has the same shit. I always feel a little sketched out when I drop in at like 10pm to grab a can of coffee and a danish for breakfast the next morning. Makes me glad I get to sleep in a 2nd floor classroom behind a barbed-wire topped fence and an armed security guard.
In Australia after 2 and a half years I haven't seen anything on this level thank god and working in the back helps.
Long McDonalds story
Your story reminds me of the McDonalds my dad has worked at for over 20 years. It started off as a respectable place with good managers and now its just run down with employees constantly quitting. The GM is the same, always cut corners and shit to try and get some of that sweet bonus money. The place is always having employees from other stores coming in to help out since they are so short handed. My dad and my uncle are almost always forced to work in the grill by themselves with the store being super busy pretty much all around the clock. Luckily they don't really have to deal with customers, but its still a really stressful experience for the both of them. Its so bad that when they take off of work for a week and come back, everyone is giving them hugs and saying how much they missed them :v:
I guess I've been lucky to not have to deal with anybody who has been violent working at the McDonalds here. But I honestly think people who act like the way some of you guys are describing shouldn't be allowed to eat in restaurants at all or at least made to go some anger management classes.
