There's a reason they call em Ford Exploders
this is literally the first time i've seen anyone call it a ford exploder
you two living under a rock? I hear them called exploders more often than by their name
From my understanding of the subject, the issue is limited to police/ ex-police vehicles. I'll try to find an article about it, but they mentioned on the local news that the monoxide was potentially getting into the cabin as a result of police modifications being installed on the vehicle. I haven't heard anything about the civilian version having the issue.
Probably because of the holes in the firewall they run wiring through

Is this their way of tricking the carbon emission tests; by keeping gas inside the vehicle, instead of releasing it through the exhaust ?
Found On Road Dead
I'll roll over a thousand pregnant spiders for this
I'm lucky to have a 2000 model, best model. :terrists:
Found On Road Dead
That's a funny way of spelling Chevrolet. At least Ford trucks don't spontaneously combust. :v:
I dont think I've ever heard them called exploders. And it doesnt even make sense to bring it up since CO is not going to explode.
Well I know CO isn't going to asplode, it's just a dig at Ford making sub par vehicles. Ford Exploder must be a western thing then, because even the police here sometimes call them Exploders and not explorers.
The vents are suppose to aid in being able to close the doors apparently, I suppose if there was too much inward pressure into the cabin the door wouldn't close.
Is there a name for these vents? My fathers pickup has a problem with the door not closing all the way unless you open a window.

A tech even had letters from an explorer badge on his toolbox and modified the 1st R to look like "D".
Found On Road Dead
Fix It Again Tony
That's a funny way of spelling Chevrolet. At least Ford trucks don't spontaneously combust. :v:
Instead they choke you with poisonous fumes :v: I don't like American car brands at all so I win ;)
Is there a name for these vents?
That's a funny way of spelling Chevrolet. At least Ford trucks don't spontaneously combust. :v:
if you haven't had a ford catch fire you haven't had a ford
if you haven't had a ford catch fire you haven't had a ford
Can confirm.
dunno man i've been driving a ford the last year and a half now, never caught on fire. missing 1st gear and 3rd is on it's way out, overheats doing highway driving, but never has it caught fire.
if you haven't had a ford catch fire you haven't had a ford
I think the Mazda in all my Ford's keep that at Bay. I still have a fire extinguisher, just in case. :v:
Sounds like the recall is finally happening: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ford-explorer-models-2011-to-2017-center-for-auto-safety-recall-urged/
The Center for Auto Safety is calling on Ford to recall all of its 2011 through 2017 Ford Explorer SUVs, reports CBS News' Kris Van Cleave. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating more than 2,700 complaints about possible carbon monoxide in Explorers, including reports of 41 injuries and three accidents that may also be linked.
It took them long enough.
It took them long enough.
it takes time to manufacture a new part to be replaced in all cars
I hope this is an easy fix, knowing how many Explorers are out there for both civilian and police.
For some agencies I've had confirmations that Ford won't fix the problem. A lot of agencies are changing over to dodge chargers entirely because of it.
