That's because it is one.
The OP is a good source, I would link it but I actually got a cut from all the edge.
The Satanic Church website is another good source for what the modern Satanist movement stands for. The fact they didn't form a new religion, and instead reinvented a whole religion dedicated to pissing off Christians in the 60's, kind of adds validity to my claim.
Can you really prove me wrong at all?
This is how I know you know nothing at all about Satanism. Because you have these silly, anecdotal sources that don't actually prove anything.
Satanism may not be a religion like Christianity (with a core faith comprised of worshiping a deity) but it's still a very organized, very realistic and humble set of beliefs, social codes, and harmless practices. There are core headers of the faith that moderate behavior, emotional handling, and so on. It's not just designed to piss of those christians!
Do your research before you make a fool of yourself by attempting to strawman an entire faith and its followers so you can call them "edgelords" on the internet lol

It's not dedicated to "pissing off Christians", it's dedicated to demonstrating the flaws inherent with strengthened legal protection for religious groups. Many Christians in America want "religious freedom" to encompass more and more things, but don't tend to realize that along with that, any religion is also free to exercise those additional privileges. The Satanic Temple exists to show Christians why they maybe don't want religious freedom in America to be as powerful as they want it to be.

There is more to it than this

that's a pentagram in a fucking octagon. This triggers me more than it should
Maybe the photo in the article is just a bad rendition, but I've gotta say that thing is ugly as sin (heh).
I like simple designs but it just looks chunky and dark, and the helmet is just there.
If the pentagrams stood out more, there was less empty space and something on top so that it's not just a flat surface with a helmet on it, I think it could look a lot better.

I actually know quite a bit about it, and calling the god damn dedicated website for Satanism as a religion is not anecdotal lol.
I take no issue with modern Satnisms beliefs or what they stand for. What I take issue with, not even that I just think theyre edgelords for doing so, is that instead of founding a new religion on their beliefs, they just revamped an old dead ~scary~ religion to further their cause. Its cheap and shameless.
I dont care what type of monument anybody puts in a Veteran's memorial, but the only reason these guys are doing it is to rile up contraversy to further their cause. Its so cheap. Its like when Call of Duty started adding shock factor scenes to their games to start contraversy to drive sales.
in a shocking twist, cyke lon bee argues that an entire group of people act one single way based solely on prejudices and internet memes. more at 11.
Hail Satan!

it's satire, and safe satire is completely pointless
do you think that the message regarding double standards would be as strong if the pastafarians did this? satanism is (supposed to be) an antithesis to christianity. the christians there wouldn't give a shit if yet another no name political group complained about not enforcing separation of church and state, but they would damn sure give a shit if a monument with satanic imagery was put up
Where'd I say it wasn't a political one? Modern Satanists are just edgelords that push religious freedom laws to try and make an over exaggerated political statement.
so is "no religious iconography on public property" edgelord now or does it not apply to christians
I want more epic statues of the devil himself to be built around cities. I need more Satan in my life!
This is your daily reminder that the Satanic Temple doesn't worship or believe Satan exists.
also a reminder that the Satanic Temple is a separate organization from the Church of Satan. TST does not follow LaVeyan Satanism whereas TCoS does
it's satire, and safe satire is completely pointless
I don't think you understand, unsafe satire is only useful when they're doing it.

back in those days 3d circles only had 8 sides

Newsflash: people of the same religion and political affiliation act similarly

So that's why everyone agrees that the Pope is the holy father of Christianity, and that Catholicism is the one true christian faith.
