I don't care if this is a symbolic gesture, the symbolism is shit. He wasn't studying for the degree, he didn't do ANYTHING even related to the degree.
Meanwhile, a memorial scholarship fund would be perfectly symbolic. Too bad that requires the school actually spending money.
It's fairly irrelevant. Zimmerman acting less than perfection is not reason to be attacked unless he threatened violence.
Yes but we have no way of knowing whether or not Zimmerman did threaten violence since he killed the only other witness. imo Zimmerman should have been charged with something, I'm not a legal expert so I can't say exactly what, manslaughter? I don't know, but I think the fact that he walked away a free man after what happened is absolutely ridiculous. At the very least he should be held responsible for creating the situation in which Martin was killed, his behavior was irresponsible and unnecessary and it's because of HIS actions that the confrontation happened in the first place.
Man this discussion is bringing back memories from when it first happened, here on FP. Same arguments are going on, despite this being 5 years after the fact.

He was charged. He wasn't convicted.

We know as much about it now as we did then.
