i trust my government less, and now these new security measures and "threat levels" have made me feel less safe, not more
So anyone from the UK please chime in listing how devastating these measures have impacted on your lives.
You should know that no mass surveillance program ever has successfully stopped a major terrorist attack, meanwhile, conventional targeted surveillance and 'spying' has remained perfectly effective. With this in mind, what good have these measures done? Besides eroding the privacy and civil liberties of the general public, as well as defeating invaluable encryption techniques in the name of data collection. Wanting to keep parts of your life private doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong.
so the uk isn't the Orwellian nightmare you guys are predicting yet then, lol.
so the uk isn't the Orwellian nightmare you guys are predicting yet then, lol.
our point is that it's getting worse

just because we don't have theresa may's hag face staring at us when we're pissing at the toilets at work doesn't mean everything's fine and dandy forever. may's cretinous goblin crew have had a hate boner for internet privacy since the internet was a thing, and now they have the prerogative and backing of enough idiots that it will probably be a thing in the future, should the Tories win on June 8th.

Do you have anything legitimate to say in response to anything said to you or are you gonna back off and keep convincing yourself no one is up for reasonable discourse with you.
Christ they were already talking about thinking of having armed police patrolling the IOW Festival on the radio this morning.
our point is that it's getting worse
my point is that it isn't.
more info is being gathered by google than by your govt.

i'm still waiting for someone to answer my question?
my point is that it isn't.

that's bollocks tho. it's just that google is transparent about it. have you ever found yourself acting under the assumption the government is aware of every word you are typing, even if you don't hit "post"? because i have to, now. because i know it's possible.
ye olde "firste, ye came for ye gong farmers.." quote here.
"oh, I'M not oppressed, so there's no oppression"
are you oppressed?
my point is that it isn't.

does that make either acceptable
i distrust google immensely (in fact i would love to see it broken up), but that's no excuse for the activities of the government
are you oppressed?
yeah, i'd say i am. i don't feel like i can freely act who i am mentally either in public or in channels of wide discourse such as this because my views would be viewed as subversive by the govt. even though i mean absolutely no violence.
[editline]24th May 2017[/editline]
not only that but EVERYTHING i do. EVERYTHING. is tracked by SOMEBODY.

lol it's bollocks because? the uk govt are being transparent about what they want to implement.

oh well that's proof right there, cos you feel oppressed.
lol it's bollocks because? the uk govt are being transparent about what they want to implement.
theyre transparent about it now but weve had plenty of information released showing that the western world has been doing this surveillance all the way back to the mid nineties, and probably before.
the fact you will willfully trust a state responsible for shit like the Special Patrol Group (a police group that battered a special ed tutor to death during an incited riot at a previously peaceful antifascist rally) shows how fucking naive you are.

What the hell do you believe in that is oppressed?
does that make either acceptable

it's more acceptable due to the reasoning behind it, what is googles excuse?

im hard egalitarian and like my mention of the SPG up top the police here have a history of battering and/or mistreating people with views leaning lefter than the Labor party. there was this entirely peaceful open debate about communism and socialism (not even arranged by ancom/ansoc people, literally just a general debte) at my local academy and literally four police officers came in and stood in the corner saying they were there "to stop any trouble".
also tudd dont fuckin post clickbait engineered bollocks like that lol. /pol/ plants want you so hard to believe that the UK is under some kind of exceptional, UK-unique extremist tyranny for some reason.

ooh yeah i'm sure the govt were directly responsible for this death.
and before you say "ooo its made by the UK TV stations", its made by channel 4, the terrestrial telly equivalent of fuckin buzzfeed. they once did this bollocks documentary where people fucked in a box live on stage but OOO you can't see it, evne though the ads implied you would. they're ratings-hungry mongrels who will cook up any old bollocks just to justify their trite and outdated format. they used to be somewhat cutting edge but now they're not even your stepdad's knackered old razor.

4 police officers observing a debate in the corner is oppression for you?
I'm not sure if you have been awake for the last couple of years, but alot of protests/rallies have ended in violence, so maybe you should see the police as just there to observe and keep the peace.
Let me know when they actually arrest you for your views.
ooh yeah i'm sure the govt were directly responsible for this death.
the SPG was authorized and mandated by the government, and its oversight was managed by government departments. whose fault is it, if not the government's, that the police force unlawfully killed a man as part of an unlawful operation?
One of the SPG's most controversial incidents came in 1979, while officers were policing a protest by the Anti-Nazi League in Southall. During a running battle, demonstrator Blair Peach was struck on the head and died as a result of his injuries; at the time it was alleged to have been an action of the SPG. In the inquiries which followed, a variety of unauthorised weapons were found in the possession of SPG officers, including baseball bats, crowbars and sledgehammers.
unfortunately for you we don't live in a fucking dystopia where the police are a privatized service ran by an out-of-government party, they are an extension of the public services, which are managed by local and central government. the SPG was established to be a sort of SAS for the Met, which almost certainly means they were not bound by jurisdiction and were under the oversight of a larger government body. therefore yes, the government, in its failure to control their fucking stormtroopers, was responsible.

what are you on about?
4 police officers observing a debate in the corner is oppression for you?
literally four police officers came in and stood in the corner saying they were there "to stop any trouble".
this was in a fucking conference room, we were all sat down, and a lot of people were like working to middle class 20-50 year olds who were actually curious about it. this was also before ferguson or any other major civil unrest in the west.
but go ahead and tell yourself that it's all because Us Leftists are Dangrus and Likes Ta Kill Da Kops even though i've given you a personal and objective account of the police services here being fucking mental when it comes to the underclasses.

no because if anything bad happens the best response allegedly is not to respond to it at all and it will go away.
what are you on about?
talking to Tudd about the bollocks documentary he linked

So then I have to ask; Was this conference room in a public building?
talking to Tudd about the bollocks documentary he linked
Why is it bollocks? Are you saying it is fake?
no because if anything bad happens the best response allegedly is not to respond to it at all and it will go away.
see if protests become violent then i don't disapprove of action being taken to shut it down (see the 2011 riots, which while a result of civil and economic distrust and unrest perpetuated by the government, were inexcusable) but the SPG literally went to fucking peaceful protests and started fights lol, how can you excuse that?
see if protests become violent then i don't disapprove of action being taken to shut it down (see the 2011 riots, which while a result of civil and economic distrust and unrest perpetuated by the government, were inexcusable) but the SPG literally went to fucking peaceful protests and started fights lol, how can you excuse that?
i can't but i fail to see what relevance this has to what we were discussing?
Why is it bollocks? Are you saying it is fake?
No, they're rightfully saying that Channel 4 are not a bastion of intelligence or remotely ethical. The entire network thrives off of making sensationalised bullshit. Compare any documentary they backed to something done by the BBC, or fuck even ITV (another private media group over here) and it'll be lacking. Compare their frankly exploitative programming to any other terrestrial network and it's fucking shameful.
Channel 4 is fucking garbage and you should be taking their "investigative journalism" with a mountain of salt.
