Uh, no it's not? I compared the size of two forums, what are you even on about? Even if it were automatically registering every single person who ever used their software to their forums (which it doesn't because that implies that number includes illegitimate copies), that still means that there's over 1.5 million people who have used it since that mechanic was implemented.
I was just pointing that the forums you compared were apples and oranges, official vs unofficial. Which is why I brought in a place with presumably equal footing like subreddit membership.
I wasn't trying to make some zinger?? I was trying to make a point that you're proving even further that Reason's community is incredibly small compared to FL Studio's lol.
As I already said, I am not denying FL has a larger following. However there is a massive difference between your numbers (which imply Reason's community is .3% the size of FL's) and mine (which imply Reason's is 20% the size of FL's). I stand by the fact that mine is more representative of the reality of the situation. The zinger comment was because of your "Like, it's not even close lol" comment, especially when you used extremely misleading data to back it up.
Literally zero people here are discussing the quality of the DAW. You're the only one who has brought it up.
That's fair.
And you're naive if you think that world-class crack groups which have busted through triple-A DRM can't just as quickly break through Reason's DRM, if not even faster.
I already said I don't consider anything uncrackable, I explicitly stated it hadn't been cracked yet. So I'm not sure why you're arguing this.
the review copies of The Evil Within had denuvo but the retail version just got cracked, it didn't have denuvo. for some reason Bethesda removed the DRM just before launch
Given that Denuvo isn't even lasting a day I guess in their eyes there's no point in going through the hassle of implementing it anymore (and I assume the costs associated with it as well). Though it does have me curious what the next contender for anti-piracy DRM will be and if it'll hold up for some time like Denuvo did originally.
Here's a FAR cheaper AP method that will boost sales of legit copies. Email the company a photo of your CD key or the game in your steam library and they will send you a cupcake or a coupon for a cupcake. Now suddenly they don't have to spend a shittone of money on Licensing DRM but instead spend less shittones of money on cupcakes and everyone is happy because everyone likes cupcakes.
Welp. Didn't mean to start a tiny riot. Maybe my wording was wrong, I guess Reason isn't perse uncrackable but just hasn't been, yet. For the more technical amongst us, http://www.wibu.com/hacker-contest.html An interesting read about the CM protection that also covers Reason. The low user base is actually like Socram said, late vst support, and a lot more (recent) cracked versions of other DAW software. For beginner producers one doesn't want to spend 300/1200/more bucks on software unless you are sure you want to continue making music. So piracy is a logical option. Next to that I hear a lot of people get scared because of the backside of the programme, a shit load of cables pop up and you can wire shit around. Most people prefer the more digital, drop down menu kind of DAW, I feel it's kind of stale myself. And to Xyrec, 1980's called and want their music production software back. Trackers. Djeez. :lick: Now i'm gonna shut up before I derail completely.

The actual programming is super easy as all you do is submit an executable to them and you get a protected executable back. Source: me, I did this for a game I worked on.
Your anecdotal evidence doesn't suddenly make loopoo wrong. In fact, he's actually very much correct. FLStudio (one of the most cracked pieces of software I can think of) has a substantially larger userbase than something like Reason, which I've also never heard of before now. If you want actual evidence proving that Reason simply doesn't have a cracking scene rather than people are unable to crack it, just take a look at their forum users by comparison: Reason: FL-Studio: Like, it's not even close lol
FL is an easy beginners piece of software nobody serious in the industry uses. Pro Tools is the standard and isn't cracked as far as I remember from 11 onward.
alright, gotta cite this whenever I need a source I trust u pal
Some time ago I read a post by someone who claimed to have contacted Denuvo pretending they wanted to implement it in their game, in the response they stated something like their engineers helping implementing it if needed, but usually it was just adding a few post-compilation steps (to automatically upload builds and some required files to Denuvo servers, after which they return the protected game in some way) and no further code changes needed. To me that sounds pretty possible, but it wasn't really verified in any way. I think it was a reddit post so shouldn't be too hard to find if you look for it
