Assuming those dms were the brunt of it, he should never have apologised. If the recent history of the regressive movement has taught us anything, it's that you never give them an inch. For one, they will never be satiated, not with an apology, not with his firing, not with anything. Though religious in nature, their dogma has no method of absolving your sins. Once you've been targeted there's no forgiveness. Secondly, this will only serve to make them more justified in their immoral behaviour. I think that those tweets bring a decent amount of context to the discussion, as they expose their nature, moral character and motivation.

In most cases like this people just up and deny they ever did anything wrong, or try to pin the blame on somebody else, nick owned up to his mistakes and apologized and i think that should really count for something to people. I don't know about this whole situation really, seems like there just isn't enough evidence for the actual extend of what he did or didn't say, i don't want to victim blame anybody, and if something concrete is brought up then fair enough the dudes a cock knocker, but right now it still seems like it's just a lot of "take my word for it" and "You shouldn't need evidence". From the way she's soaking up all the attention it wouldn't surprise me if she was just someone barely related to the topic, saw the investigation and that it was all being dealt with privately and thought "Hey, this guy flirted with me once, I bet I could spin this so that it's all about me!" Not saying that it's one way or the other, I have no clue about the whole picture, I just thought that "I'll ruin your career" tweet seemed more deluded than vindicated. I'd rather not assume everyone is on the same page and try to inform as many people as possible what kind of crowd we're dealing with here. Yeah exposing these ideas gives attention the the attention seeker, but that is both unavoidable and also I don't believe she would want this kind of attention anyway considering everything she does is for praise and validation.

Posting those tweets should, if nothing else, serve as a warning sign and an insight into the moral bankruptcy of the victimisation culture. It should remind us why to never ever give in to these pricks, and that Nick made a mistake in doing so.
