Please don't buy Spec Ops with incredibly high expectations. I played it after the hype and was thoroughly disappointed, and I now think it's possibly the most overrated game this year. I felt that the story was nowhere near as special as you people make it out to be, and it's not particularly fun to play. If you bought it expecting a generic shooter, I'm sure you'd be impressed. Don't go in with high expectations from the hype and you'll enjoy it, although I don't think that's a positive thing to say about any game.
I legit had this experience after buying it on a flash sale the other day. It's a okay game that's let down with crap cover mechanics, but the story is a bit "Whoa" at the end but not to the extent that it lived up to the hype people created over it.
Oh for FUCK SAKE. I JUST BOUGHT NATURAL SELECTION 2 AND NOW IT'S ON SALE FOR EVEN LESS? DAMMIT STEAM :suicide:
Always wait until the last day if it doesnt go on sale. I wanted to buy DR2 off the record to play with a friend but thought "it might go cheaper if I wait" and 3 days later it goes on sale and I buy it.
I've never seen an episode of Walking Dead, is the game still worth it or won't I understand anything that's happening?
I've never seen an episode of Walking Dead, is the game still worth it or won't I understand anything that's happening?
Well, your first mistake is that you havent watched TWD. iirc The game follows the show
I've never seen an episode of Walking Dead, is the game still worth it or won't I understand anything that's happening?
The game takes on it's own story.
Saw a '3', got excited. Fuck sake give us a sale on far cry >:( also yeah I just finished Spec Ops. That was a some good shit, only pissed me off once so I'd say it's worth that price. BUT FYI you can get it for 20 cents less and also with bioshock 1 and 2 all on steam here: http://www.amazon.com/Desert-to-Sea-Bundle-Download/dp/B0091T6FQO/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1356555969&sr=1-2
I can never understand how the walking dead game can be fun, the only thing you do is look around and click. When i heard there was coming a walking dead game i was hyped, then i saw some game play and it instantly made me not wanting the game.
Just looked at some screenshots of Spec Ops and oh damn I couldn't play that. It's Brown and Bloom: The game.
Change the filter setting to vivid ingame.
Just looked at some screenshots of Spec Ops and oh damn I couldn't play that. It's Brown and Bloom: The game.
The story is great though, just put it on easy and go through it quickly.
Not sure bout Arma, all my FPP friends play it from time to time but I am always like, "neuhh i don't want to pay more than 10 for a game that I am not sure I would like or not" and they are always like "dude just buy it" and I am like "but I want to carefully spend my money and I don't want to waste 15 dollars and be disappointed" it's a debacle. Natural Selection 2 looks appealing though.

Your choices truly changes how the story develops in this game. There's plenty of choices to make, plenty of different ways to interact with other characters as well. There's more about gameplay than aim and shoot, you know? It's one of the very few games who made me really care about the characters and the story. It's totally worth it. I mean, it's the price of a movie ticket, and there's more interactvity and replayability than a movie ticket.
DAMN. I have more than enough for NS2, but I lack the VRAM for it.
Oh for FUCK SAKE. I JUST BOUGHT NATURAL SELECTION 2 AND NOW IT'S ON SALE FOR EVEN LESS? DAMMIT STEAM :suicide:
I really don't care that I did the same thing. Seriously, $5 doesn't mean much to me. And besides, both VALVe and Unknown Worlds get more of our money, so I think it's totally worth it.

natural selection 2 runs like shit on my computer for some reason
natural selection 2 runs like shit on my computer for some reason
I think it's less that it runs bad and more that it doesn't really smooth out your framerate. You'll go from 60 fps to 40 in a sec and it becomes really noticeable.
Loveletter to Spec Ops incoming since I just finished it again.
Just looked at some screenshots of Spec Ops and oh damn I couldn't play that. It's Brown and Bloom: The game.
It can be pretty colorful actually. Too colorful sometimes. It's frequently applying a colored layer to the scene. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22370734/2012-12-25_00012.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22370734/2012-12-25_00078.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22370734/2012-12-26_00026.jpg I really love how the game plays with choice. Sometimes the characters only give you X options, but there's actually more hidden ones available if you think outside the box. You get into some very deep shit during the game, and throughout the protagonist will claim he had no choice and that it's all someone else's fault. He knows what he's doing is wrong, but he just can't stop, it's wrong but he's also kind of supposed to do it and finds justifications for why he's doing these things. And here's the player, claiming to be railroaded and blaming the devs, knowing that they're doing terrible stuff in-game, but unable to just put the controller down because of that obligation. It's a videogame, it's kind of what you're supposed to do, right? It's just a game, so it's fine to do all this stuff. It's not like you resemble Walker. One of the psycho loading screens encapsulates this playing with linearity very nicely: "There is no difference between what's right and what's necessary." This game hates its characters, its genre, and most importantly you, the player. I imagine it has the greatest immediate effect on people of the CoD demographic it was marketed towards, but there's also much to be found if you're aware of the fourth wall component and are highly critical about what's going on, what the characters are doing and what you are doing. If you think something's not right here, you're on the right track. If you decide to play the game, play it till the end and watch for a line that explains why you're here. It's a line that pierces the protagonist and the fourth wall quite vividly. That said, the shooting's garbage. Boring at best. There's no real excuse for it other than budget; even in the beginning where the game is supposed to be like a straight up shooter it would've helped if the gameplay was like those titles that do gameplay well but not the narrative. Don't even touch the multiplayer.
I would buy Sims 3 if it still wasnt so fucking expensive even on sale
Just looked at some screenshots of Spec Ops and oh damn I couldn't play that. It's Brown and Bloom: The game.
It's being ironic.
It's being ironic.
"It's ironically being a generic third person shooter to make you think man" no they just focused more on the story than the game play. which is okay, a lot of games do it, but it's silly to rationalize it as the developers trying to be meta and make a statement.
Anyone think Far Cry 3 might go on sale ever? I would doubt it being so new and all but wanna know what you guys think.
Nothing so far has caught my interest I guess I'm getting old
If you want a good - perhaps even amazing - game, get The Walking Dead. But if you want a bad game that, for all intents and purposes, is just as good, get Spec Ops.
If you don't have The Walking Dead you could just wait for season 2 of The Walking Dead which last I heard was coming out next year. But I like fucking around in that game anyway using the rewind feature.

But if you're into fast-paced and "dumbed down" gameplay, stay the hell away from it. It is a real challenge, and it does take a bit to learn. The editor is also amazing. Edit: Actually why not just get the free-to-play version and try it out?
