Anyone who uses the C key to crouch is a hopeless degenerate

My muscle memory always tells me to twist my thumb in such a way that I can reach that CTRL without moving my fingers from WASD.
I hate crouching.
literally move your pinky down one button you degenerate
literally move your pinky down one button you degenerate
I never use my pinky tho.
Lot of filthy degenerates in here.
I'm practically playing twister on my keyboard.
I agree with "use what you like best" and every game should have the ability to rebind keys.
But I do find it weird that many games choose unfitting keys for their actions. Like I for inventory, M for map or L for log. I know they use the same letter as the action begins with but who wants to reach all over the keyboard from WASD up to I to open the inventory all the time when it could be on Tab (I always put it there) or somewhere else?
This makes me either look at the keyboard (it's on a tray beneath the table, so I would have to slide it out) and distract from the screen or make me use my right hand which should be on the mouse at all times.
Call me a console peasant, but that is the main reason why I use the a gamepad for most games that also appear on console. I don't play them competitively and don't need 100% precision in shooter games. I just want comfortable controls.
I guarantee you that every dev has their own keybindings and then kevin who is normally just brewing coffee for everyone is set to the task of choosing the default keybinds.

RDFG for movement, Z for sprinting and X for crouch tho. Alt for prone if present. All others are inferior.
I use w to strafe left, e to move forward, r to strafe right and m2 to move backwards. A very comfy way to play games.
I'm probably the only person on the planet that uses e for crouching.
e for "use" has never made sense to me. I always put that action on Mouse2, and the Alternate fire mode and iron sight/zoom onto the shift key.
I use space for alt fire in csgo.
do you not play any game that uses shift as sprint/walk and switching between sprint/walk with crouch is not a tactical choice? because you have 700 hours in csgo and you saying that you never have the need to use shift or ctrl at basically the same time never arises.
I also use CTRL for crouch and SHIFT for sprinting/walking (depending on the game), and to get around this issue I twist my pinky in ways that would surprise you.
because you have 700 hours in csgo and you saying that you never have the need to use shift or ctrl at basically the same time never arises.
Yes? Your movement speed doesn't change between holding ctrl or holding ctrl and shift.
So when I need to stand, I move my pinky from ctrl to shift. There is no point in CSGO where you need to both walk and crouch.
This seems like a pointless discussion
Nothing is pointless. Everything is arguable.
Even the 8th visible color of the rainbow.

I would make fun of how strange this is but then again I bind reload to scroll up so what the fuck am I thinking

E for use was always annoying. Can't strafe left and click it at the same time. I just bind it to scroll down or forward :v:
ESDF /jk
ESDF is objectively better if you have big hands
I still won't switch to it
use your ring finger for shift when you also need to crouch.
Just mash your pinky flat down on both keys at once?
I actually rest my pinky finger on shift/caps/tab. I use the base of my pinky finger to hit ctrl.
I prefer using home, delete, end, and page down to move, and the arrow keys to look around. I got rid of my mouse ages ago, it just holds me back.
i don't care if i either use c or ctrl
and some of us are still arguing about WASD and its eccentric (but likable) neighbor ESDF
some people use esdf??
The new doom had crouch as c.
When I came into a section where I was forced to crouch, I pressed control, threw a grenade and killed myself.

I am using it, it's quite comfy and you have more buttons to press with your pinky.

In my first playthrough of Doom 3 I didn't know you could crouch until I accidentally pressed C.
I hadn't played many PC games at the time, and the only other PC shooters I had played used ctrl

Nah I have big hands and ESDF is terrible mostly because the F key has that little notch for blind people which feels bad.

I don't think I've ever played a game that let me crouch and sprint at the same time. Gears of War exluded, I guess.
If I want to crouch and move slowly, I'll use alt.
I bought a keyboard for my laptop so I could use CRTL for crouching.

ESDF is the goddamn master race.

That's one of the reasons it's great.
Ctlr to hold, C for toggle
Double tap W for sprint, used to travel, shift for quick action.
I've used Q for crouch since Halo came to the PC.
Good fucking luck playing any game with a slide or dive function with CTRL as crouch.
That's why it should be a dedicated button and not a fucking multiplier
"Walk in a direction, press sprint to sprint then press crouch to slide" no fuck off
Leaning in games can fuck off too, it takes my precious E (use) key, and no, not "just use F haha", F is only for flashlight you plebs
Bethesda are degenerates then, the default keys in Oblivion for jump was E and for the use key it was Space, truly outrageous, then quick cast magic was C.

Just assign flashlight to x
[editline]a[/editline]
or t
[editline]a[/editline]
or r if the game has no guns.
i can't believe using what key for what action can be an argument
but it really depends on using toggle or hold
Only reason i stopped using arrow keys is cause BF3 did recognise the keypad controls as different to the rest. That game broke a 15 year old habbit.
0 was my crouch key before that, fuck you guys.
