like its really hard to fuck up trolling yet here we are
me, myself and I don't exactly constitute well for a circlejerk
You've got two hands and two feet dont ya?
You can make it work.
I hope at least there's a playable, not just character creator demo(on PC as well) so we can at least get a feel for things aside from just seeing videos and reading about it. I'm kinda disappointed they are going even wackier with this, but ya never know. There could be a little more depth than what we know so far.
Characters usually have sense though.
Assuming Gat's voice actor isn't busy they could say the cloning process cloned the body too fast and the brain couldn't keep up and that Johnny's personality came back and he lost the muscles.
Assuming how silly the game writing is I wouldn't doubt that.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was just there with little explanation. I'd prefer they tried to make it make sense but when it comes to Gat I take after him and just don't give a fuck. I'll probably be picking this up, I enjoyed SR3 for what it was and this looks pretty good too.
yo i remember when SR3 first came out people loved the shit out of it, now it seems the opinion is "wow so tryhard randum!!"
what happened
People got over it. Just like with Far Cry 3, where you can "fight tigers and a whole bunch of awesome shit!!", the appeal of doing wacky and amazing things wears off when you do said things as part of your normal routine.
That's why GTA's BoGT was so cool, it took the standard grittiness of GTAIV and added some cool shit to knock around with. The difference is that BoGT used the new fun stuff to expand on a solid core, not base the entire game around it.
but how often can you do that before getting bored
at the end of the day, its just invincibility and killing a civi with the baseball bat reskin
A long damn time. It's pretty easy to get creative and just have mindless fun in SR3.

Hype wears off relatively quickly. Think back to going on the swingset when you were a kid. You probably wrestled over dozens of other children to get on that shit first and had so much fun.
Looking back, swings kinda blow.

I dunno, I had lots of fun at GTA4 swings.

GTA4 MP swings was the best shit. 32 player madness with everyone flying around.

what happened
Because people played through the entire game, and given time, you start to notice things that you didn't notice in the post-game hype.

I think Borderlands 2 was the biggest victim of this.
I think Borderlands 2 was the biggest victim of this.
And especially Simcity.
And especially Simcity.
Ehhh, I think Sim City has a reverse terrible hype thing going on.
There was a ton of bad press and terrible server issues, and over time people are starting to realize that it's a decent game. Time will tell the fate of the game, though.

I was so hyped up for this the last week before the game shipped, and even idiotcally pre-ordering it, in part by watching that damn live steam of theirs. Underneath all the bullshit surrounding it though there IS a decent game made by a talented and devoted crew, unfortunately their design choices weren't received well by the consumers (always-online DRM can kiss my ass).

Nobody calls the game bad for the game itself, except for the city size restrictions and it's always-online solution.
People are purely shitting on Simcity for it's launch-state, and it's developers lies and bad decisions compared to every other Simcity title. The gameplay itself is being praised or cuddled with by most people that play it.
There's plenty to do in the sandbox, just getting into huge fights with cops and gangs is a ton of fun, do you really need the game to force feed you all activities in a video game? Saints Row 2 had a ton of side activities because just fucking around wasn't very fun since the general gameplay was quite lacking and even then, a lot of the activities were super repetitive and the game kept forcing you to do them if you wanted to progress the story. The gameplay is completely fixed in 3 so you don't really need the ton of activities to have fun. What's even the point in making it open world if apparently all the fun just comes from doing the missions the game already gives you?
Activities give you something new to do, something fun and exciting. Demolition derbies and fight clubs? I love those. Especially when I find ones I didn't even know about. Holy shit, a fight club on the prison island? And I get Troy as a homie if I finish it? Little touches like that is what made SR2 so great, and what made it a great sandbox. There's so much secret stuff and hidden things that they don't shove in your face. It's all for the player to freely explore. It doesn't hold your hand. Even now, I still find things that I haven't found before.
SR3 holds your hand through a bland and lifeless sandbox that has nothing to explore. Easter eggs equate to the giant bunny being blatantly obvious on a boat. Oh great cool.
Why do you have some of the worst taste in video games that I've seen on FP?
It really bugs me when I see the trailer then that picture :

They look like totaly different things. The picture shows Washington and political stuff but the trailer shows Steelport and aliens. Did I miss something ?
That picture shows actual reality but the trailer shows simulated Steelport. So yeah, aliens.
I like the "running for president" angle.
The Saints have terrorised and/or destroyed every rival gang on US soil. What else is there to do?
Destroy the Away Team.

You didn't miss anything, the posters are for hanging it up in the streets and shit, and tells about what the storyline is centered around, not so much how the game really is.
It's no different than the SR III posters.
