I don't know what you guys and those in the rock paper shotgun comics are about, this looks fucking awesome and over-the-top with enjoyable gameplay to me. You're just bitching you can't get some "realistic depressing world war 2 simulator". Who the hell wouldn't enjoy using lightning powers and chainsaws on Nazis? Apart from unecessarily sticking the Brothers in Arms label in what is a completely new franchise, and as long as they didn't kill the past story and will work on a separate game with it, I'm glad to see a nice over the top, fast paced cartoon-y game rather than GRITTY BROWN SRS SCRIPTED-UP-THE-ASS SHOOTER #13124.

Ok there are two main issues and complaints about this game I'd like to adress. 1. The biggest and most reasonable complaint is that since this is such a dramatic departure it shouldn't have used the same title. And I agree. However, that is not a reason to rage immensely and curse Gearbox's name. I was mostly placated when Randy Pitchford said that it was a branch off of the main series and not a replacement, which means I get to play a game that looks quite fun and entertaining in it's own right and at a later date go back to the intriguing story of Matt Baker using money made from that game. Though I'm still questioning the name choice. 2. The "reverse racism" claims. Let me explain in two words why killing Nazis is ok. The Holocaust. The event which forced humanity to look at this type of event and give it a name, Genocide. The wholesale extermination of one group by another group. This was state-sponsored mass murder. Not to mention Germany leading the world into the Second World war. Now was every single German soldier a war criminal? No. But that doesn't change this: The Holocaust. Also, it's not "reverse racism" because the reason we kill Nazis isn't because they're blond haired and blue eyed. It's because of something they CHOSE to do. But the fact that they were part of the state and the system that committed the Holocaust is why Nazis, like raiders in Fallout or Borderlands are ok to kill en masse.

German soldiers were usually conscripted into the army, they usually had no connection with the ideology of the Nazis. Hell by that logic German civillians should be brutally murdered because they were citizens of Nazi Germany. In many cases, the German army disagreed with the SS and Hitler and often had conflicts with them. Erwin Rommel for example, refused to let his son join the SS because he was completely against the whole idea. Also, i thought you contradicted yourself but it was just badly worded.

I'm well aware that a grand portion of the German population had nothing to do with the war crimes committed. What I'm trying to say is to not get all righteous at things like Inglorious Basterds or Furious 4 claiming reverse racism because they understand that as well, but also recognize the cathartic appeal of killing Nazis. I'm trying to explain where that comes from and why it's ok.

But i really don't see reason to brutally kill people that were unaffiliated with the holocaust.

This isn't like Band of Brothers, which goes out of it's way to humanize the German soldiers so that the overall horror of the conflict can come out. These movies and games are doing the opposite so that it's fun, simplistic and cathartic. Not to mention morally uncomplicated for you to shoot these Nazis. In these universes every Nazi is evil, while they acknowledge that in reality they weren't.

It was an extreme aggressive hatred of the rest of the world for their treatment at the end of World War I.
