I enjoyed CoP more than SoC i think. I Just with CoP had like 2x more areas.
SoC: Worth it despite it being pretty buggy (most of them fixed via mods)
CoP: Not as good as SoC imo but a lot more stable than SoC from what I've seen and played of it
CS: NO
All three are absolutely worth it, fuck the noise about CS being bad. None of the games are better than one another.
It is advised to install [url=http://stalker.filefront.com/file/Sky_Reclamation_Project;121820]this[/url] bug fixing mod before playing CS though.

I'm a massive fan of the STALKER games, but Clear Sky [I]is[/I] absolutely horrid. I haven't ever tried a playthrough where it did not completely break and become unbeatable two-thirds or so in. The game is alright, the new enviroments are cool, the story is interesting, but it is literally [I]the[/I] most buggy game I've ever played.
Oh, and they removed pistol iron sights. You have to add those yourself; which is a pain in the ass, especially for people who don't play with crosshairs on.
ShoC has a great atmosphere and the abundance of mods makes it really great. The story is also pretty cool.
CS is a bit weaker, mostly because the faction system is broken and that the ending is rushed as hell, still I used to play it with a mod that made it really an enjoyable experience.
CoP is the more polished one and is far more accessible, many useful and nifty changes were made. The story is also better presented. But it lacks a bit of replayability to me compared to the first game.
Also vanilla playthrough is always recommended.
Bought the first stalker when it came out, have played through every title since. Fantastic series and some of my favorite FPS games of all time. They are much slower paced than other shooters, a lot of time is spent exploring and gathering

I've wanted to buy clear sky for awhile now, $2.50 is a great price.
I got Clear Sky and Call Of Pripyat for just under 8 Bucks. I still couldn't help but feel like I was stealing.

Don't listen to what anyone, do NOT play this games with mods first. You need to experience vanilla before you start adding flavors

cam_inert 0 knocks out all camera effects. Best to put it on [B]0.1[/B] as it is the best of all worlds

I have played Shadow of Chernobyl before and enjoyed it, but I seem to recall the retail version being a nightmare to patch and being really buggy. Regarding this daily deal, what ones are worth getting? Are the Steam versions any less buggy these days? I was tempted to just get Call of Pripyat as it seems to be the most popular one, but it feels like it would be a shame to skip Clear Sky. Opinions?

You're honestly not missing out on much if you choose to skip Clear Sky. There's hardly any new info about the story of SoC and it's basically "do x for me and I'll tell you where y is," rinse and repeat. Yeah it was somewhat like that in SoC too but at least it played out like a mystery instead of rushing you through maps on an endless pursuit. It has some interesting new areas but they're usually bogged down by the faction warfare feature and restrictive story missions.
Goddamnit i cant buy soc. No money left. If anyone can buy it for me right now i'll pay him later with a same amount, thx.

I played CoP a while ago and I'm currently trying to play through SoC and I still don't understand why people think these games are so good. I keep trying to like them because I feel like I'm missing something, but I just don't get it.

Fuck[/I] Clear Sky. Even as a SoC fan, The awesome Red Forest segment is outweighed by most of the game, and they fucked with the damage scaling and as someone said the gunplay feels off so the combat is downright [I]infuriating[/I] if you are playing on master.
It was literally an overpopulated version of the zone, and it felt more like "Stalker - ACTION EDITION" then anything else. Both SoC and CoP are fun without mods, CS was NOT - and it was the sole reason it took me so long to play CoP, because it completely burned me out on the games.
And the faction missions were laughably broken.
