I think the reason people are complaining that they want a refund etc. is the fact that it's not as if it is something that they bought for £20, and it hasn't changed since. It's been updated constantly - improving/possible making it biased, since it's been out. But yeah - I don't mind personally. I don't play it much any more, plus I bought it with Garrys Mod, for like £10, or something... Although, one thing I'm hoping will not happen, but defiantly will, is loads more mic spam. Ah well...
Like I said in a previous thread, I'd like it if there are 'Premium' account only servers. Not servers that just say 'Premium Only' in the title, but servers that don't allow non-premium accounts to connect.

And I'm sure I'm not the first to speculate that this transition to F2P is Valve trying to make money off of something wasn't making much. I think they are hoping that the influx of players, inexperienced players at that, will increase micro-transactions. And Valve being the geniuses they are, I'm sure that's how it will go down. Not that I blame them, I love Valve and all the free stuff they give us.
Atleast it'll be shit when they play it, you get what you pay for.
4 years on and I rarely ever even play TF2 anymore, but I still think I got my money's worth in that time. It was a fun game and still is, even after the controversial updates like Mann store. Really, unless you bought the game for like $40 or more within 2-3 weeks of the announcement, I don't think you should complain.
I want my classic tf2 back
VAC doesn't really stop them now anymore, everytime they're VAC banned they can just get another free copy of TF2. Hacks will be, pretty much, free to test until holes and exploits are found.
If you take it one step further you could ban based on machine ID.
ArmA 2 free: "Awesome, Bohemia Interactive is the best" TF2 Free: "Fuck you valve, you ruined everything"
If you take it one step further you could ban based on machine ID.
You can spoof mac addresses and shit though.
I think it'd be cool to receive a different game of your choice under 20 dollar, and the rest put in to the steam wallet or what ever.
If you take it one step further you could ban based on machine ID.
That would never work and is an invasion of privacy. MAC address spoofing is easy also.
I want 20 dollars worth of items in the Mann Co. Store. Instead of just 1 stupid world war 1 helmet
I don't know whether to laugh or cringe at people wanting a refund for something that's gone free to play after being on the market for an already low price, for 5 years n October. If you bought it recently fair enough, email steam and explain but other than that, you can look at it as a sound investment. In one way I'm glad to see how great Valve have been in supporting a game this old, rare that few companies would do that. I don't like how much the game has changed personally, but that doesn't mean I'll want a refund. Getting all my friends together is worth it.
5 years? where'd you get that?
I'd rather choose what hat I get, rather than fucking EVERYONE getting the exact same hat.
This will give growth to the community :)
I don't give a fuck what they give me for free, the way I see it is they don't owe me shit. I paid something like £25 four years ago for five of the most critically acclaimed games ever, and I've got a shitload of use out of all of them. Valve owe me nothing for making this game free to play.
The fun I had during the original beta was worth all the 45-50 bucks I spent on the orange box, then you throw in HL2, Ep1, Ep2, and then one of the most revolutionary games in the industry - portal. I'd say Valve is master of value when it comes to games. You can play nearly all of there games for so long and get so much enjoyment out of it.
When they said "free-to-playisation" for a moment I read Playstation with typos and began frantically searching the article for what they were talking about.
"lol guise u spent money on dis gayme 4 yrs ago lol stop whining" Ahh yes, because every single person who every bought TF2 bought it the same day it was released.
I bought it 2 years ago and I already almost have 600 hours :v:
Apparently there's already a plugin or something that bans F2P users. It's the Mac update all over again. Get over yourself, TF2 community.
Well that's just stupid. I want my refund then, Valve. I don't even play it anymore anyways, after a few months of its release it gets repetitive and annoying.
You stopped playing after you got your money's worth. It's now free. I see no problem.
Apparently there's already a plugin or something that bans F2P users. It's the Mac update all over again. Get over yourself, TF2 community.
Wait, really? For fuck's sake.
My only concern about this is that it is that now that the game is free and doesn't cost money it won't stop hackers from trying since they can just create a seperate account :/
Wait, really? For fuck's sake.
That's what I heard, anyway.
Waaah people are playing a game for free I paid for 4 years ago
What is it with people who think everyone bought it 4 years ago? What if I bought it last week? Or even yesterday? Don't I deserve a refund then?
VAC doesn't really stop them now anymore, everytime they're VAC banned they can just get another free copy of TF2. We’re increasing our focus on making sure that hostile players can’t ruin your fun. Specifically, we’ll be keeping a close eye on players exploiting the ability to make infinite free accounts to bypass bans. We’ve built systems that’ll allow us to measure and track what these players are doing, and respond quickly.
Can you read the FAQ first? They've obviously found better ways to do hack management, or it wouldn't go F2P.
hope gmod will also become free
I wonder if the xbox version is still vanilla
hope gmod will also become free
Then what are you going to build with? The models ingame are from source games, not including GMOD
