As both a thing for me and my friend to play with, and as a middle finger to Sgt. MK IV, I made a mod for Brutal Doom that makes Doomguy into a girl. :v:
You should have made Doomguy into an african american if you wanted to piss him off. He is not a misogynist.

change the Doomguy to this
I find it very telling about current gaming culture that id Sofware is showing off a new game in the famous DOOM franchise that will be released through Bethesda but threads about it are spending much more of the time talking about fan-made modifications of a previous title in the franchise from twenty years ago. It's amazing that Doom 2 mods are still more fun to talk about than this new game that's being teased.
It's like stickin' it to the man. Kind of. Almost. A little bit. Who's the man again? Man, fuck that guy.

Are you sure? I remember hearing something about him being a misogynist too.

you know guys, you really shouldn't give mein kampf a bad name, sure it was written by adolf hitler, but you should let the body of work speak for itself!
Yes, and if you let Mein Kampf speak for itself it is a barely coherent rant stretched to book length sprayed with incorrect facts and a skewed presentation of history. None of these have to do wit the fact that it was written by Hitler.

That being said, I'm really excited for new Doom, but I'm also fairly cautious. What made Doom so great IMO, was the level design, and I'm not entirely sure if it's possible to pull it off outside of the original Dooms. Fuck, I hope they release some gameplay footage soon.
now that the legend is gone level design would never be the same
but no seriously as someone whos been on the iD bandwagon since the first Keens, I'm worried to see how this is gonna turn out, without papa Carmack this is gonna be different, but maybe a bunch of people who see Doom as something they grew up will be better than Carmack's very techincal vision, when not complimented with Romeros vision kinda became like a math textbook (im looking at you doom 3 with the ability to move an in game cursor on an in game screen but had the extensive colour pallete of grey and the lights are out)
Returning to fast movement speed and carnage, is however a step in the right direction. The comparison between Brutal Doom and Doom isn't the best, I bet if you put Doom II iD behind todays hardware you'd get the same kind of gory result.
