How is it an excuse? It's a valid work strategy used by many game companies, I mean seriously do you expect these huge companies to pay hundreds of employees to sit around doing nothing during the weeks-month(s) in between development closure and launch? Fuck no that shit wouldn't fly in any other industry, you're either busy during work hours or you're fired.
This so very much. Artists in game development studios in most cases finish what they are required to work on way before their peers in other non-art related positions. This is why you see so much cosmetic DLC near or on launch for games.
These graphics barely look better than Sims 3.

This shows how badly you color my words badly even before reading them. It's a good, logical excuse for what otherwise would look bad. It also exclusively applies to day 1 DLC, not day 730 DLC. If this is the only problem you have with the post then we now understand each other.
These graphics barely look better than Sims 3.
Yeah, skin pores were cut as well. Fucking EA, man.
These graphics barely look better than Sims 3.
Confirmed for never having played the Sims 3?
Confirmed for never having played the Sims 3?
It's not a totally unfair statement. Sims 4 looks plain, but in general more up to date. They've also refined the art style across the board. Now the textures, clothing, furniture, etc all looks in-line with the cartoon art style, whereas before it was somewhat dodgy in places. Sims 3: [t]http://puu.sh/aybRw.jpg[/t] Sims 4: [t]http://latestpcgamez.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/The-Sims-4-interactions1.jpg[/t] Easy thing to mistake if you haven't played TS3 in a while.
If it works as well as advertised I could see having some fun messing with sims. In one video they said your sim can die if he gets over excited or something so that's something I'm looking forward to.
These graphics barely look better than Sims 3.
They went back to Sims 2 style of art because SHOCK people complained about how sims in Sims 3 looked awkward as fuck. Plus the simpler art style takes less resources to develop whilst still looking good. There's no pleasing some people. "God, Sims 3 is weird looking they should go back to a more Sims 2 like art style" "wow, Sims 4 has bad gfx fuk EA. i can't count each individual skin cell on my sims -7.63/10 devs should commit sudoku!"
